I grew up in rural Texas, and some people we knew went to a Catholic school where they make Shiner Beer - I'm talking 12 people per graduating class. They won some kind of "state football championship" but they only had to play like six teams... One of which was the school for the deaf. The guys we knew described how their team would communicate via bass drums, but claimed 'oh they pretended like they couldn't hear them and would just run us over' 😱 like just the most awful thing to say

I don't think Rayne is fetishizing Chidi but I DO think their religious/spiritual beliefs are utterly mismatched. If things don't work out, I think it will probably be because of their different worldviews. I do think Loren is fetishizing Faith. Also, something is off with him. He works multiple jobs yet is couchsurfing and has no money. I'm curious what the hole in the story is and my theory is either debt of some kind (gambling?) or alimony payments.

I’ve dealt with years of ridicule for it. I’ve been doing exposure therapy and it’s done wonders! I held a chicken this weekend and didn’t even have an elevated heart beat!

As someone who is from Chicago and moved to New Mexico a few years ago, i can tell you that Rayne's accent is typical New Mexico. It's a blend of Spanish, Native American, and space cadet. Also the strange pronunciation of words like Celibacy is typical. If you want to hear more look up "Shit Burquenos say" on Youtube.
