Mattie, The Diplomat is riveting!! I think the second season is better than the first. Keri Russell is amazing! I loved her in The Americans. I was sad when that series ended. But, she did fall in love with her costar, Matthew Rhys & married him. So there’s that. 😉 Poodle, Leslie Manville is so good as well. Loved her in Magpie Murders, Moonflower Murders & World on Fire. (All PBS productions) I thought Mrs Harris Goes To Paris was so damn good. I cried (a good cry) at the ending. 💙

Disclaimer was very good, you have to see it. Diplomat is great too, took a few episodes to really get absorbed into it. Both shows has great acting. We cackled so loud when Sarper said "She's cute, but she cries too much". We had to rewind him saying that a few times.

i know it’s a lot of tongue-in-cheek ribbing with the gender stuff but… i promise there are people that listen that have questions about their gender… and listening to a gay man mock their gay man friend as he ponders the possibilities of his own gender is an effective way to highly encourage people’s internalized trans phobia. i know there was no ill intent by jake, but this just doesn’t feel like the climate to be publicly mocking in this sort of way. and today is trans day of resilience so just really bad taste, y’all. everyone should actively and openly consider their gender more. there would be fewer dead trans people. i promise.

Do NOT preach here. This is not the place. You have essentially come into someone’s home and criticized what they are serving in front of their friends and family. Matt and Jake are the last people who need to be schooled on tolerance and acceptance. my tone in the above comment was meant to be matter of fact with some sadness. i will try to be more clear. i think of jake and matt as strong allies to the trans community. i don’t know if it was a planned bit or off the cuff (i took it as authentic and off the cuff). i know that part of the schtick is exaggerated responses and what not… but this is a subject that involves a population of people being heavily targeted right now at alarming rates with actual physical violence as well as harmful policy attacks and just the general hateful attitude in the air towards trans people. the jokes may seem innocuous because it’s queer people, but truthfully, it’s this kind of thing that can fuel internal transphobia because we all want to belong. especially to a club we already may be part of (queerness). if i was out of line a mod or jake and matt can let me know. i speak as a queer person who came out late in life as trans - partly out of fear of not being accepted by my own queer community. and in fact i did have to initially navigate not being accepted by some very close queer friends. that’s how this stuff works. i love to laugh and have fun and be silly and joyful here most of all. i’m not trying to be a downer. i spoke out bc i truly believe that the joking around this is potentially (& UNINTENTIONALLY) harmful to a community of people that this podcast actively supports.
