My concern with My Unorthodox Life is that I’ve seen some anti Semitic discourse about the show on Twitter.

I agree, and I don’t think Mattie or Poodle would ever fuel or condone that sort of behavior. I’m adding an edit to provide a little more context. Having watched the show with my partner, who is Jewish, we came away feeling that the show sensationalized an insular religious community., Especially when compared to a show like Unorthodox which I feel gave a more more realistic depiction of the Satmar community. By branding these communities as all Orthodox or Ultra Orthodox the shows make little to no effort to differentiate between the various communities they are trying to depict. Additionally, because it is sensationalized the shows give cover to anti Semitic language and behavior which is more likely to target members of these communities because they are highly visible.

C'mon So Freakin' Cheap! It is honestly even more disgusting than Extreme Sisters. The dad who buys everything with coins and the mom who won't spend anything on her daughters wedding are repulsive and I feel so bad for their families. You guys would have a field day with that show!

In episode 4 of So freaking cheap, I imagined poodle and matty doing imitations and a theater. Unorthodoxed Life seems really slow and like scenes are produced. Maybe it’s just the first couple episodes but it just seems slow to me.

My Unorthodox Life!!! I liked it, but I want to see if you have the same questions as me. I would love to get ya’lls insight. I appreciate Julia Heart’s story about her escape from “fundamentalism,” but I just can’t figure out how she became COO of Elite Models, w/out connections. No shade for those who have connections on their way up, but I’m not sure if she is saving it for the book or if she is purposely hiding something. Inquiring minds want to know! 🤔🤓❤️

Some of the behavior displayed is borderline mental illness. Why are they Saran wrapping paper plates? They still have to wash the pots and pans they used to cook the meal. When she told them if the pasta was too dry to just add soy sauce and ketchup I legit felt nauseous. Also, how does paying for everything in pennies save money? Money is money. Take all those coins to the bank, get them deposited into your account and use a debit card. The worst part is that he doesn't even have a job but still has total control of the finances. What a loser.
