I about had a nervous breakdown when my school told me I didn't qualify for national honor society. I went through all my records and found out the algebra teacher hadn't entered any grade for some end of the year exam, and that alone dragged my entire grade down to an 89. They let me participate in the ceremony, but wouldnt add my name to the program. Then they wouldn't let me in Who's Who. I still get mad over it.

My mom scolded me for making my first B in the 3rd grade. I still remember the shame. It’s my source of never feeling adequate which I’m still uncovering in therapy. Thanks mom! There was also that bitch Ms. Newman who yelled at me for forgetting to have my agenda signed one day. Fuck you Ms. Newman.

After hearing you talk about Lisa, Laura’s mom, I think maybe I’m naive or too accepting of people. I think she has some issues and seeks attention in an unhealthy way, but I didn’t see the munchousins (spelling - sorry) or homophobia —- I think Lisa wouldn’t inject herself as much with a man but because of her thoughts on gender roles. 🤷‍♀️ I’m feeling pretty dumb to not see all of this

Remember, Lisa said she completely lost it when her daughter came out to her and locked herself in her bedroom, etc. In that moment she went insane and hatched a plan where she will be the puppet master/'man' in her daughter's life. Everything we see is because she hates the fact her daughter likes women. I don't know about you guys, but I hear Twilight zone/horror movie type music every time she's on the screen with that blank ass face while brushing Lauren's hair, wanting to impregnate her, etc. I'm quite familiar with her type (in-laws).. Compare them to the pizza people though, and it seems like they are on a completely different show. One about overstepped boundaries, and the other about a pizza shop.

I remember the first time I got a c in geometry. I was deeply ashamed. My value to my mother was my intelligence and my grades. Still working on that in therapy. The saddest thing is I have done that to my oldest daughter. She is taking the bar exam right this minute and she has been a ball of anxiety for a year trying to study and becoming a new mom. I feel terrible that I have put so much pressure on her. It truly wasn’t intentional but ugh! Being a mom is hard!!! Thanks for letting me vent. I love this group because you can always find someone that can relate to your struggles.
