Springfield Ohio is about an hour west of Columbus - middle of nowhere. I looked up the median income - 34.9k. I can only imagine how he grew up ( not shading small towns ) . Poverty & neglect was just the start - it’s tragic. BUT STAN AND LISA? PURE GOLD!

Josh is def not southern illinois, spent 4 years in the area def not. I am thinking the part of Ohio people call "Southern". Also for Rachel, I wonder her experience in the military and its correlation to her "type". I have met her type in my 9 years in uniform and many had origins rooted in trauma.

They say The South starts in Cincinnati, but as a Southern Ohio gal I can say that it really starts at the south end of Columbus (called Grove City). The Southern half of Ohio is basically more similar to Georgia culturally than it is to the north part of the state like Cleveland. But nestled in close to Springfield is the magical town of Yellow Springs of Dave Chappelle fame.
