When y’all talked abt Poodle’s inability to whisper I died .. I’m the same way. I’m from Ky originally and my uncle, (who was definitely the inspiration for lampoon vacation’s cousin Eddie) said to me years ago at our family Xmas dinner, “Jesus Christ Suzy! What the hell is wrong with you?? Did you learn to whisper in a goddam sawmill or what???! It became an instant classic that I added to my own repertoire. Feel free to use it yourselves to tell someone they are being too loud.. It’s a nice, southern way of saying, please… I can’t take your loud ass voice another fucking second.

What makes Chances strippers and casino plot line even crazier for me is how far away they are from EITHER OF THOSE THINGS. At minimum he is driving an hour to Ameristar in St Charles, and listen….no one ever wins at Ameristar in St Charles. And strip clubs are another 30 minutes past that! So he is doing a 3 hour round trip three times a week, PLUS the time he is spending gambling/watching strippers. Him trying to argue 4 missing hours a week is absolute dog shit. He is literally working a 20 hour work week and driving down I-70 the rest of the damn time. Either it’s fraudacity or Tater is a total idiot.

Have you read Educated by Tara Westover? It came out within a year or two of Hillbilly Elegy and covered some similar areas, though Educated is set in Idaho and is about Westover’s life and Mormon survivalist family. It’s WAY better than HE in every way.
