One thing I absolutely love about this series is that we learn and grow right along with Steven. We can understand his frustration and confusion with getting little tidbits about what's really going on because we feel the same way!! Waaay back in the 8th episode (Serious Steven) they introduce the gem war (all the leftover and abandoned weapons all over the place), then, when we met Lapis, Pearl said that they were "always fighting gems" and Amethyst revealed that the monsters in bubbles in the temple used to be "just like us" except they were "corrupted" and bubbling them to keep them safe is all they could do for them. FINALLY, we land here...in the Kindergarten...a barren wasteland where gems were made. They'll eventually give us more pieces about the Kindergarten but it's painting such a huge picture...a teeny bit at a time!!
