If Google will be split then there is a chance that Mozilla will not get 0.5 bil $ anymore from Google. But that will also open more possibilities for Mozilla. And there are even more risks for Mozilla if Google will not be split, as it is then dependent on Google. And Google will pay Mozilla untill they will see a need, and will stop if they will decide it is better for them to push Mozilla towards extinction.

Regarding Chromium getting weaker should not be a big deal as that will open doors wider for other browser engines like Mozilla's Gecko. And Chromium looks to be most popular engine because of Google's dominance.

Hopefully you are right. Gecko browsers will also need money to be developed and maintain and improve security. That money will have to come from someone/somewhere. With Chromium dominance, nobody seems to be keen on sustaining the existence of Gecko/Firefox other than Mozilla. And Firefox users will probably hate any monetization strategy Mozilla will try to come up with. This will be interesting to see. Either way, I think Mozilla is gonna lose the Google money as a result of this lawsuit.
