Long ago, the dwarves of Thorumgar carved their home, Thurin's Forge, into the heart of Mount Grunhelm, a dormant volcano. They thrived, crafting artifacts of unparalleled beauty and strength until the day the volcano stirred, not with lava, but with dark magic.

An ancient entity, Magmara the Flamebound, was awakened from the deep layers of the earth, bringing with her a horde of fire-infused monsters. The dwarves fought bravely but were overwhelmed, sealing the deepest parts of the fort and retreating.

Centuries have passed, and the entrance to Durin's Forge has been uncovered by seismic activities. The adventurers are hired by Durnir Axebearer, a descendant of the fort's original masters, to venture into the fort, defeat Magmara, and reclaim the ancient home of his people.

Hi friends!
I'm thrilled about this month's adventure map pack, as I've received numerous requests for a dwarven keep and underground theme.

This is the first part of our dwarven fort adventure map pack. Next month, we will release the content for indoor and underground areas.

Thank you for your support!

Cheers!

The Ascent of Titans

The Elevator, known as the Ascent of Titans, is a monumental lift carved between two colossal statues of ancient dwarven heroes. Its mechanical workings are powered by a combination of steam and arcane technology, a marvel of engineering that allows passage to the high bridge leading to the fort's outer gates. Legends whisper of the elevator's enchanted nature, suggesting that it doesn't just traverse physical distance but also passes through mystical barriers, protecting the entrance to the volcano.

The Gatekeeper's Path

The Outside Bridge, known as the Gatekeeper's Path, is a formidable stone bridge that leads to the towering gate of the volcano's entrance. Flanked by snow-swept mountains and ancient watchfires that have burned for centuries, this bridge is the final stretch before the inner secrets of the mountain can be unlocked. The gate itself is a massive structure adorned with dwarven runes and symbols of power, standing as a steadfast guardian against the biting cold and potential invaders.

The Gate of Embers: The Scorched Threshold

The Gate of Embers is the formidable boundary between the freezing winds of the mountain's exterior and the sweltering heart within. As the adventurers step through, they are enveloped by a wave of heat, a stark contrast to the chill of the outside bridge. This massive doorway is crafted from dark ironwood and reinforced with bands of rune-etched steel, designed to withstand both the ravages of time and the volcano's fiery breath. The air shimmers with heat, and the ground is strewn with glowing coals. Fire Salamanders, creatures of flame and malice, skitter across the walls and ceiling, their eyes alight with the flickering fires of the Forge.

The Molten Bridge: The Sundered Span

The Molten Bridge, once a proud testament to dwarven engineering, now presents a formidable obstacle with a gaping fissure that splits its width. This section of the bridge, known as the Sundered Span, is a treacherous divide where the bridge has partially collapsed, revealing the molten fury churning in the depths below. The remaining structure teeters precariously over the lava, its stones heated to an ominous glow, threatening to crumble with the slightest misstep.

The Infernal Gearworks: The Crucible Crossing

The Infernal Gearworks, aptly named for the complex and ancient machinery that operates the Molten Bridge, stands as a testament to dwarven ingenuity and the raw power of the mountain. Massive gears and cogs, forged from metals that can withstand the intense heat of the lava below, interlock in a dance of precision engineering. The bridge itself can only be extended by correctly operating this machinery, a task made all the more difficult by the sweltering heat and the ever-present danger of molten rock.

The Shifting Span: Path of Perilous Walk

The Shifting Span is a marvel of the Molten Bridge, an engineering masterpiece that can reposition itself to form a pathway to the Fort's imposing gate. This bridge is set upon massive gears and rollers, designed to move across the chasm with the turn of a giant mechanism. The heat from the lava below has scorched the bridge's surface, and the metal components glow with a faint red hue, evidence of the intense heat they endure.

The Emberwatch Bastion: The Crucible of Flame

The Emberwatch Bastion is the first grand chamber within the heart of Thurin's Forge, a place where the heat from the central brazier warms the entire area with its magical flames. The room is circular, with pathways branching off like the spokes of a wheel, and the walls are adorned with metallic statues of dwarven warriors, their eyes glowing with the same fire that fills the brazier. This bastion was once a place of vigilance, where guards would watch for any signs of intrusion or unrest from within the depths of the volcano.

The Apex Vigil: The Summit of Sundered Skies

The Apex Vigil stands as the highest point of Thurin's Forge, a commanding bastion set upon the very summit of Mount Grunhelm. This open-air fortress offers a panoramic vista of the surrounding volcanic landscape, with rivers of lava carving through the rocky terrain below. The battlements are lined with aged ballistae and cauldrons of oil, remnants of the fort's ancient defenses. At the center, a great beacon brazier burns, a guiding light that was once visible for miles around.

Stay tuned for Part 2, indoor and underground areas!

Fendrel Drake

I know I already lauded praise on this, but seeing the recent updates with the PDF adventure full of information about Mount Grunhelm, I just have to throw more kudos your way. I'm so thrilled with this, and already printing minis out for it! Thanks!

Epic Quest

Hi Fendrel! Thanks for your kind words, my friend. I appreciate them greatly. Please send me some pics of the minis when they are ready! Cheers!

Tom

First and foremost, I'm a new member just joined a day ago. I'm blown away by the quality and the creativity. It's just going to help a ton with immersion in my games. I play via VTT , so any flair I can add I figure helps (a little, nothing beats in person games) by not playing "in person" anymore. Thank you.

Epic Quest
