I had a feeling you'd really like this one, JV. I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much. I adore the original animated Beauty and the Beast, but for me, this version improved that story in several ways. Not in all ways, but in many, it did. I loved that they gave all the main cast (Belle, her father, the Beast, Gaston, Lefou) more personality than they had in the cartoon. Belle in the animated movie was a great character, but I feel they made her more active and stronger here, fleshing her out. They did the same with the Beast. A couple of the songs I don't care for so much, but I love many of the new ones. Evermore, the song Beast sings as Belle is riding away, is my favorite song, even when I count in the songs from both films. It's a fantastic new number that Dan Stevens sings beautifully. Also, I love his voice even in the non-singing parts. And yes, I also love what they did with Lefou, here. There was no confirmed cannon in the animated movie that Lefou was in love with Gaston. They were just friends, and he kind of hero-worshipped him. But people sometimes joked that he was in love with him. For me, that made him sticking with him and putting up with him for as long as he did make more sense than it did in the cartoon. I also loved that he broke away from him and at least appeared to find someone new in the end. Hopefully someone who loves him for all that he is in a healthy way. Great reaction, JV. Oh, and I heard you mention you watched Forest Gump last night. I'm excited to see your reaction to that movie!

2024-06-22 03:08:37 I hope you'll give Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) a chance, as it's one of the best live-action adaptations of fairy tales! (It takes liberties with Disney's original 1937 film, but it's brilliant!)
