How, tho? Lol I thought I wouldn't get to see a 1st time reaction to this except from people far younger than me - but I CANT WAIT to watch with you!!! The first time I saw this, I was 8...and it was in theaters at the same time as The Lion King. So....my parents dropped my baby brother with Grandma and my slightly younger sister (7) and I were told to stay in our seats until the movie was over and then come to Theater 5 and wait for their boring grownup movie to be over. We came in at the running scene. I still remember my mom finding us in the seats at the back of the theater...waving...and then putting a finger to her lips to remind us to be quiet. Over 30 years later...some memories just stick. 😊

It's still called ping-pong lol

I hope you put red lasers in Jane's eyes in the youtube edit when the bullies hit him with a rock. You were INTENSE! 😂

Dang, I forgot how incredibly sad this movie is. Haven't seen it for many years. Thank you two for reacting to it! For more Tom Hanks movie suggestions, I'd recommend The Green Mile. ♥

Jenny died from AIDS or Hepatitis depends on who you ask. I see her dying from AIDS to be much more in line with the historical events of the AIDS crisis which would make sense for the movie considering Forrest was going through life partaking or being somehow involved in all these American historical events. So Jenny being an AIDS victim during the AIDS crisis makes sense. But I can see how some people would say she died from Hepatitis (I can’t remember which type) considering that’s what she died from in the books and it would be from the drug Needles she injected into herself during her years of partying.

Since you asked!! My grandfather died in Vietnam when my father was 1 year old (and his young widow, my grandmother, was 17.) He didn't get drafted...he went willingly. My family knew he died in a helicopter crash, but were told it was "pilot error." Once the FOIA records were released, it was revealed that it wasn't pilot error but enemy fire that crashed the copter. My dad petitioned Washington DC and got a posthumous purple heart medal awarded to his father (which was denied him previously because he didn't officially die in enemy territory.) Anyway. The stupid war ("Conflict" really, because only Congress can declare war and they didnt) was about stopping Communism...like everything at that time. (Edit: and we lost.)

I'm so sorry....but I have more fun facts! In DC, the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial is 1/4 mile long (which surprised me when I first visited) and the newer WW2 Memorial is between the Washington Monument and Lincoln...with the Vietnam War Memorial along the reflecting pool. There are books with names, and pencils and slips of paper along the Memorial because the names of the dead are along the Memorial and people like to take tracings. I take one of my Grandfather's name (Herbert Adams) each time I go. A film fun fact!!! The scene where Forrest is in NYC with Lt Dan, and Dan slaps a car hood to say, "Hey! I'm walking here!" Along with the background song are an homage to the only Rated X movie to ever win a Best Picture Academy Award, "Midnight Cowboy" starring Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. The line was Hoffman's and was ad libbed. They were filming and a car drove through the set and Hoffman yelled that now iconic line! (They also do the same gag in Futurama with Zap and Kif. Lol) ok. I swear I'm done.

This movie straight up destroys me!! When he's talking to Jenny's grave I can't keep it together and I'm all snot and tears!! 😭😭

I love when you post videos from the other channel here. I used to be a patron over there before I came over here but I can’t afford both. Considering switching again for a month just to catch up on everything I missed 🤣. You both are amazing and this movie gets me every time, spectacular movie. I would suggest Castaway for another great Tom Hanks movie if you haven’t seen it.

Hard agree, I always believed is was HIV/AIDs, especially since she likely got it in the 80s/90s

Thanks for this reaction, guys! This movie was based on a book, and Forrest was involved in even more events in the book such as going into space. Also, can’t remember if you’ve reacted to Catch Me if You Can or not, but if you haven’t, I strongly suggest it! Leo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks are in that movie!
