I am with Buffy on this. Her “friends” were horrible with her, especially Xander. He was acting like he was entitled to Buffy’s services. They were living on the Hellmouth before she got there. Willow complaints were a bit misplaced as well, she was dating Oz way before Buffy left and doing magic as well. And she bailed on Buffy so that afterwards she could accuse her of not being there for her. I understand Joyce still adjusting. The only one who was great in this episode was Giles, from start to finish. People die violently in Sunnydale all the time, that’s life on the hellmouth. The premise of the show is that no one acknowledges it unless it’s part of the main overarching plot. I have mixed feelings about this episode, it was well written by Mart Noxon but the characters pissed me of, except Buffy and Giles. Loved your reaction, though.

The scoobies are... kind of annoying and seem pretty entitled in this one, BUT, I think we as the audience feel that way because we know more than the characters. From their POV, Buffy bailed on them, never contacted anyone, left them to do her job, and had no idea why... and when Willow wanted to talk to Buffy, her response was "you wouldnt understand". I'm not saying Buffy was the one in the wrong at the party, but her friends really didn't know WHY they should be empathizing with her, and that's because Buffy wouldn't tell them. I see both sides.
