Gyllenhaal is such a good creep, it's nice that he got back to his Creep Roots pretty quickly after his flirting with leading man roles (Prince of Persia) went poorly. (Like Colin Farrell before him. I'm sure Hollywood is littered with actors who LOOK like leading men but are really character actors. Oh, Chris Pine! Hey everybody: Watch "Stretch". Patrick Wilson plays the lead; trust me.)

I'm glad you reacted to the theatrical release rather than the director's cut. That has different songs playing over scenes on the soundtrack, and arguably explains a bit too much. I preferred working out more or less what was happening rather than having every detail explained!
