New Anime Poll Winner!! (Patreon)

The results of the poll are in! Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood won! (LINK). Thank you everyone for voting. We will start recording reactions as soon as possible with blind watchers only (Navi may or may not join when needed as a guide only). The reactions will be on Patreon before it will go on YouTube, per usual.

This (and the option of a HxH rewatch that was on the poll as well) should never have been on a poll. When you guys did it with AoT, it was your own decision and it didn't take up a poll winner's place. Now we have to wait a year+ to get something new again for this slot. Beyond silly imo.

I was able to excuse it that time because not everyone watches anime with the original Japanese audio. This time, though, we're getting the same English dub... a second time.

Yes, they did. Years ago, with a different set of reactors, but yes, the Normies channel has reacted to FMAB before. Last time, it was dub, and I believe it'll be dub again this time (unless they change their minds). Don't get me wrong, the dub voices are great, but if they truly want to convince their audience that reacting to the same show twice is worthwhile, maybe mix things up?

If we are paying for reactions to the same show twice (albeit with different eyes), I think the least they could do is mix things up a bit, like they did with Attack on Titan. Don't get me wrong, the DUB version of FMAB is great, but not everyone likes dubbed anime. I think the SUB version is great as well.

I love FMAB. Even though part of them already reacted to it years ago, I mainly voted for it this time because all the other "finalist" shows were incredibly long. And personally I had no interest in many of them. So here we are. Still should be a lot of fun though!

You may disagree, but this is my opinion. When the Normies reacted to Attack on Titan twice, one group watched SUB, and the other group watched DUB. When the Normies watched FMAB a few years ago, they watched DUB, so if they watch SUB this time, sure. I think both versions are great, so it feels like a good opportunity.

I honestly feel it would likely just confuse them as the concepts and origins change drastically between the 2 series for the same characters. They’d have to go in knowing half of the series is non canon anime only content, have them then switch to FMAB, have them having to effectively rewatch certain sections of the story while also ruining some reveals and twists. Particularly when you consider the people who will be watching this show (mainly Pat) this would honestly just make the watching of either show both convoluted and potentially disastrous. FMA works as a series if you have never seen FMAB and do not intend to watch it for a decent period of time after you finish FMA (where you hopefully have forgotten some parts of the story so the rewatching of certain sections doesn’t feel so tedious) but back to back would be a bad choice. Plus given the poll was for FMAB and not FMA it wouldn’t really be fair to those who voted for FMAB who perhaps wouldn’t have made that same choice if it had been FMA instead.

If we account for the bonus content as potential separate episode then it’s 65 so it would be about a year and 3 months, not really an eternity as when you consider to react to Frieren (the obvious winner of the next poll) it would still take about half that time but hey to each their own I guess.

@Elli -- Yeah, that was my initial thought, which makes me worry about the chances for other shows in future polls. If they were to add Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, or ATLA to a future poll, you know those popular moneymakers would beat everything else. It kinda feels discouraging to be asked for show requests one week, only to see an unwinnable poll against a juggernaut the next week (especially if it's a show they already have reactions for).

So out of curiosity have you/would you watch a different channels reaction to FMAB? If yes imagine if the same new crew split off from the Normies and watched FMAB on an all new channel would you watch it? If you would then just pretend it’s a new channel and suddenly that issue becomes moot. @Overload -- I'm actually not sure how Frieren will fare. I suspect that it'll probably win, but it might depend on what the other choices are. Frieren is an amazing show, and it has the power of recency bias right now, but I've come across shonen fans who think it was boring. I've even seen Frieren come in 2nd place on another reaction channel's poll (although I don't remember what it lost to). I only "sorta" follow the Normies, so I don't have the biggest feel for their average audience's taste in shows. Do you think Frieren will win in a landslide, or do you think it will depend on the other poll options?

Based on the suggestions the only show that would give it a run would be Solo Leveling which is arguably a better show for reacting to given Frienren’s much slower burn or if I get my wish Ousama Ranking but I imagine Frieren would be in a similar position to what FMAB was in this poll with Solo Leveling coming in 2nd. Personally I preferred Frieren over Solo Leveling though I enjoyed both but given the loud minority in the comments arguing for shorter series Solo Leveling should actually be their choice as it’s only 12 episodes so would be done and over in half the time as Frieren and be finished before the 2nd season of Solo Leveling releases leading to a new show being picked up by October. But I’m almost certain their argument will then be something along the lines of “don’t vote for Solo Leveling as it’s another shonen” and ignore the fact that Frieren is also a shonen

Comment sections from polls is the funniest s**t on the planet, especially when it involves anime. Bruh...it was voted on. I love FMAB, so I am not losing sleep. I also will not lose sleep if they don't have a DUB crew for HxH, something I do want. It's THEIR react channel, and there is an ungodly amount of anime out there. Let's take a chill pill, cuz it'll be a minute before we make rounds on all the anime with varying reactions. And One Piece is 1,000 plus episodes...that's 2 years minimum that slot is covered. So patience is a virtue.

FMAB is like Cowboy Beebop where it should only be watched in Dub. The story takes place in a fictionalized European setting and the dub fits the characters better. It's one of the few anime where the Dub is flat out better than the sub.

@Seal no you don't have to separate the fandom from the series. The reason why Jojo is a thing is because of the hype from their fans; which drives the traffic of their anime. The anime itself is utter garbage. It's reasonable to assume people who like Jojo are individuals you wouldn't want to hang out with in real life and are insufferable on every metric that measures a human as insufferable. Hopefully in 2026 people vote against the insufferableness of Jojo fans and it continues to be relegated to a niche audience that thinks it's better than it actually is. It's included because the entire show is based on different music artist and songs (Some the normies could probably gush over). The reason a popular song is the ending is because the creator of Jojo handpicks the song himself and that song is usually what inspired him during the season. You would know this if you actually watched the show. Kind of sad there are others like this who just doesn't like Jojo fans. (Which is ironic since they aren't even that bad... the most you get is "that's a jojo reference" or "ora/mudas" DB was literally above with fans that swear Goku is the strongest being in existance and will argue online forever.

It baffles me, honestly. I love FMA but it's been reacted to already. They had the chance to react to something completely new, but no. The issue is that they're offering us more of the same thing when other shows exist. Considering how many Normies there are, they could offer reactions to the same shows 2, 3, or even 4 times (depending on how many folks join per reaction series). Prior to the poll, I don't recall seeing any comments requesting FMAB or HxH when the Normies asked us for show requests. Why is that? Because most people wouldn't ask for the same thing twice. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to vote for shows they like - FMAB and HxH are both great shows - but why ask the audience for show requests if the Normies planned to include repeat choices that would, without a doubt, defeat the shows we asked for? Now that we know the Normies are open to watching the same shows with different members (beyond Attack on Titan, which most of us thought would be a 1-time thing), I'll be curious to see how often it happens. Between FMAB, AOT, and HxH (which could win in a future poll), it feels like they want to revisit the popular + lucrative franchises and milk them a second time instead of trying new shows that some of us have requested for years. While there's nothing inherently wrong with doing this (if the audience wants to see duplicate or triplicate show reactions), the audience does lose out on variety as a result.

In a comparison of the two versions they're going to watch, Dub is way better. English is also a Germanic based language. It fits better with the character and setting than it does with the Sub which is Japanese based in its dialect choices. Sure they could watch it in German sub but that's not being discussed nor an option they're choosing from. It's the same issue with Monster and the Cyberpunk anime. The English Dub just works better because the English dialect is more natural to handle European words like "Elrich" than the Japanese language. The R's and L's in particular with English and other languages in European based words sound different in Japanese than it does in Germanic and Latin based languages.

Also, the "Japanese" language is not similar to the "Chinese" language. Both societies developed their own writing and language system independently of one another. It's very easy to tell if someone is using "Chinese" versus "Japanese" because they're different, distinct languages.
