Danny Moore

I am so confused about the schedule now. Was really hoping it would be Spy Kids this week.

Ivan

Is there an updated schedule somewhere? Where's The Mist? Also what happened to War For The Planet of the Apes?

Danny Moore

I don't think they posted or updated the schedule. Last week was supposed to be spy kids but was Incredibles 2 and then today was supposed to be The Mist but instead is Princess Mononoke.

mundanelotus

I thought they were releasing the last Planet of the Apes movie?

Alicia

There's a weekly schedule posted on the front page of the Normies website but they've changed the movies around at times, usually because the editor hasn't been able to do the YT edit in time

Amanda P

Holy shit!! I'm so excited to see this early, I had may 18th marked in my calendar for this reaction!!

Jul_Belton

I thought the Mist was the reaction.

Infinite tsukuyomi (he him)

My favorite Ghibli film. So complex and multifaceted. I really like the theme of hatred consuming like a curse and how humanity and nature both have their reasons for being left alone. Great animated film.

Jim Watkins

they said when they released the schedule that it is subject to change due to other recent movies coming out that they need to react to like Dune 2 etc... the schedule is like the pirate code, more of a "guideline" than actual rules

Jim Watkins

it's the first one i ever watched when i was a teen... now i can look back and see how much it helped shape the person i am today

NobleSon32

OMG!!!!!!!! None of you have any clue how HYPED I am for this!! Thank you Normies for making my day! ❤️ Thank you Surge, Rana, Chris, Marketa, Navi, Pat, and anyone else who helped make this happen! Getting ready to watch now!! What a pleasant suprise after a long day at work and the end of my work week too 🙂

Husk

Dude called him Miyamoto Miyazaki? Lol

Chaos T

I wish this was my first Ghibli film. Watching "Grave of the Fireflies" as my first Ghibli film is kinda messed up.

Macs

hey damarins back, nice

rickie woodson

But Hollywood actors arent voice actors so they might be expensive and well known but the quality isn't inherently there.

Sinbad

Can we get Ghost in the Shell the 1995 movie at some point?

Nabeshin

HUZZAH! You guys actually watched my favorite film! I can't even count the number of times I've seen it. Every time I encounter someone who hasn't watched it, I insist that we do so. 😛 One weekend, as a child, when I was over at my best friend's house, he showed me "Samurai X"/"Ruroni Kenshin" and "Princess Mononoke". This was my "Animation can be like THIS?!" moment, and solidified my love of the craft. I've seen and loved most of Miyazaki's work, but this one's special for me. Ever since my first viewing, I've tried to live life seeing with eyes unclouded. I love the discussion y'all had as well. It disappoints me when some people think of this film as just another "save the environment" movie, as opposed to that being ONE theme (a theme all his films share) in a story that's about way more than that.

Robert Bonfante

TBF, this movie is quite overtly a save the environment film and it's a constant theme throughout, but I personally think it is to the film's strength. But I agree, there are a LOT of themes in here. Princess Mononoke was my first Ghibli film and I first saw it around the time I was in really into anime. I went through a heavy cyberpunk phase with classics like Akira, Battle Angel, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star and I started finding and getting into more fantasy and sword and sorcery type stuff like Record of Lodoss War (btw... The Normies should do ROLW, the anime spiritual successor to the Legend of Vox Machina). It is during this fantasy anime period that I discovered Princess Mononoke, and my taste in anime forever changed.

rickie woodson

finally got time to watch the reaction. a semi blind watch as i havent seen this since like 2004. saw it once and remember nothing except what mononoke looks like and the wolves

rickie woodson
