#SundayRundown Bad Batch. Even though I am not the biggest fan of this show (still has some great episodes and moments though, but it was slow and filler), for me, I do appreciate the show for showcasing more planets throughout the galaxy and the aftermath of the Clone Wars. An example is the planet where Sid’s business is, Ord Mantell. Ord Mantell was actually first referenced in The Empire Strikes Back, when Han and Leia are arguing at Echo Base on Hoth. I will say, the ending with Nala Se is going to be really important. I won’t spoil anything about the mountain she is being held for the show, but the mountain itself is another important Expanded Universe location taken from Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn Trilogy (“Heir to the Empire”, “Dark Force Rising”, and “The Last Command”). As you continue with the show, you will see even more influence from Zahn’s books and worldbuilding. Another Fun Fact, Coruscant actually first appeared in “Heir to the Empire”. Apparently George Lucas liked Zahn’s idea so much that he included it in the Prequels. Love your reactions by the way and enjoy the show.

I did not get the analogy to the Emmys the first time I watched this episode. To be fair it's the first episode Sunny gets THIS meta. I don't blame anyone for missing the joke.

#SundayRundown Bad Batch Here’s a random tangential connection. The short story The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku revealed that clone trooper Kix found out the truth of the brain chips after Fives died, got caught before he could warn everyone, put in stasis, was supposed to be sent to Dooku but got lost bc of a Republic attack, was found 50 years later (roughly 3 years before TFA) and woken up by pirates, and he joined them. There’s images of what he looks like. Also, you guys skipped S1 finale part 1 comments bc of xmas time i guess, so here’s what I said just in case. It was confirmed Crosshair did get his chip out, although not when. They said you can notice a behavior change, most agree it’s after he got burned up. That’s why he seems less eager to kill from Ryloth onward. “Shoot the kid/Send the kid away” “I’mma kill these traitors/Arrest those traitors”

The entire episode is a commentary on how they have never and still have not been nominated for an Emmy for best comedy series. There are numerous references to other sitcoms and how they attract viewers. When they go to the other bar(show) there is a will they won’t they plot. Pop music, bright colors, oversaturation. The woman bartender has a boyfriend that ignores her and is dressed like Pam from the Office & Oscar makes an appearance. The patrons react to what’s going on like a laugh track. The bell is rung and means it’s time for people to drink (time for people to laugh aka laugh track). People go to Paddy’s and complain the gang just yells over eachother (a common criticism of the show). The gang suggests maybe it’s their location(network) but then they say that a bar just opened last year and won an award(another brand new show on their network won an award before them). Oh and they said black owned bars don’t win awards (black sitcoms were notoriously snubbed at the Emmy’s until recently)

I feel like the bar down the street was referencing "Louie" in particular, which also aired on FX and has won Emmy awards. The whole "black bars don't win awards" may have been a reference to the wire, which Chad Coleman (Z) was a part of. The good thing about this episode is that it's hilarious even if you don't pick up on the meta commentary, but it definitely gets better once you're in on the joke.

#SundayRundown It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (long explanation) You guys Google everything any other time but not when the show is hinting at the topic. IASIP has never been nominated for an Emmy or Golden Globe award. Despite it being one of the longest running comedies in history. The entire episode is a meta episode about that fact and they compared their show to various shows that were winning. Such as the Office (Oscar), basically any modern comedy show like a the Office or Friends show where there is a romance interest. The new bar down the block was a reference to Louie which aired on FX right after Sunny. Louie was nominated it's first season and won. Danny DeVito is a two time winner for supporting actor for Taxi. Him showing the Gang how to win an award was a nod to his previous wins for Taxi. Frank's Burlesque theme is basically Game of Thrones or any HBO adult show that rack ups nominations while being risky material. The ringing of the bell and the Gang being confused is because the bell represents a laugh track which popular comedy shows use. Which like the bell tells the audience when to drink (laugh). ISIAP does not use a laugh track. Black ratio is a reference to the fact that the Academy does not nominate black shows. And the fact IASIP does not have any black main characters. The cast are big fans of shows like Martin (never nominated). The Gang sticking up for their customers is basically them sticking up for Sunny fans. Charlie's Spider song is just them telling the industry to GF themselves. And Navi hit it out of the ballpark. This episode needs to be updated to include the Bear because that is a drama not a comedy IMO.

Incredible attention to detail here. Amazing of you to comment this and inform them on what they missed out on, since they talked over joke after joke discussing their likes of Fish Bowl drinks and if Saliva Germs die in alcohol🤦. I wish Pause was an option when their side talks go passed the 2 min mark & you know, their missing the best jokes in the episode.

#SundayRundown I appreciate Bad Batch and Rebels showing that there were competent Stormtroopers. While I don't think he was a clone Wilco was probably a veteran of the CW like Saw Gerrara and Cham Syndulla. A lot of the comedically incompetent troopers we later meet were like Finn, just kids taken from their families, run through training and slapped in cheap armor.

That was truly from the heart. It is ridiculous that they never receive an Emmy nomination and each time they point it out television critics get upset with them. So it is personal thing about the show with the critics. The fecal matter and racist slurs on the entry fee was a good reference about Frank poops the bed and various uses of the multiple R words. The N word being used on the show. I believe those were reasons that critics used to trash the show. Great callbacks to their criticism. Clever writing.
