*NO SPOILERS* The statue at the end of the Nauvoo is the angel Moroni, who, according to what I've learned from South Park and Book of Mormon, was the "Native American" Angel who gave Joseph Smith the "golden plates" that had The Book of Mormon written on them. The Mormons are in the show because the writers figured they would be the kind of group that would A) Want to be free of the population restrictions on Earth (by this point, all of Earth has a limit on how many children you can have) and so they want to fly to another solar system to populate it, and B) Have the financial resources and organization to commission a generation ship in order to do so (I'm not sure what speed the Nauvoo is supposed to reach at its peak, but the 12 light year journey it is about to undertake will take at least decades, if not over a century. Even if it got up to half the speed of light, that's a 25 year journey at minimum). Also, Mormons have more stuff with space in their religion than any large religion (except scientology). Like they believe God lives on a planet, called Kolob, and that people can get their own planet if they live a good life. Also, the mainstream Mormon church doesn't do polygamy anymore. I'm not part of any kind of religion, but the Mormons in the show are interesting

Also, if space fungus isn't from Earth, then it's still alien, just not an alien animal. Just saying. This show is all about changing the way people look at space, making things more realistic, vs things like Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, etc which aren't accurate at all (though Firefly made space silent, which is good)

Also, your Mariner valley drawl could use some work (that's what they call the Texas-like accent of some Martians)

Anthony

Amos seemed "simple" at first but this episode proves he has the most situational awareness. None of the other crew even suspected anything.

Another great reaction you guys. Two more left for this season. Can't wait to see what you three think of them. Also, lowkey waiting for you guys to reach first several episodes of season 2, which are probably my favorite in the series so far.

They don't really explain this in the show, but the book series on which the show is based does explain why Alex has a Texas accent of sorts. Apparently the area of Mars where Alex was raised, the Mariner Valley (same area where Ambassador DeGraf was going to retire before he got expelled), was originally settled by two groups -- people from India and people from Texas. Several generations of cultural cross-pollination later, you end up with Indian dudes that say "y'all" ... and presumably smoked brisket vindaloo or something (which is a dish I thought I just made up, but a google search suggests several people have beaten me to it - maybe they're future Mariner Valley Martians).

Hey, by the way, Nahid, you mentioned that somebody revealed a spoiler in the comments last week, and it occurred to me that that might have been me, since I wrote the most stuff last week. I don't *think* I said anything that was a spoiler, but if you think I'm saying more than I should, I'll tone it down in the future. I'm probably blabbing too much anyway. :) Anyway, sorry if I went somewhere I shouldn't have.

Anthony

A tex mex version of chana masala covered with cheddar cheese sounds great

Smoked Brisket vindaloo??? dude that sounds kinda fire....I should try and make it. Thanks for the info man. Again i love the diversity in it and it makes Alex just a bit cooler. - Nahid

thenormies

No it wasnt you...someone straight up spoiled who was behind the stealth ships. - Nahid

Tony Camas

You definitely should make some... and then you guys can eat it during the season finale react. Then, if anyone screams, we won't know if it's from the show or the Vindaloo.

Tony Camas

Oh geez. That's just ... really shitty. Well, for what it's worth, you're going to get a reveal of that pretty soon anyway. But sorry that happened. Some people...

Are you going to start Season 2 reactions right after you finish uploading Season 1? You should, because the first 5 episodes of Season 2 directly continue the story of Season 1 (by finishing the story of the first book, Leviathan Wakes), then the next 8 episodes of season 2 start the story of the second book, Caliban's War. Each season finale so far has been named after the corresponding book, but each season doesn't finish each book, because there is too much story to tell (Though I think it could have been done, because IMO there is SOME filler content in the show, like the Uncle Mateo/Diogo scenes in "Rock Bottom", and a lot of the crew bickering and ship-fixing scenes in "The Big Empty")
