Adam is Magic

Normies stop making predictions because you will never be fully right and everything will eventually be revealed.

Katara and Hama were REALLY strong benders, yet they needed the full moon in order to bloodbend. (Spoilery) It's just that Tarrlok has special genes/a special bloodline. I don't think there's any other people that could bloodbend without a full moon, regardless their strength. Needing the full moon in order to bloodbend seems to be the rule, not the exception. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anonymous

Isn't discussing and making predictions one of the, like, key parts of reacting? Just because they might not be right doesn't mean they can't brainstorm about the episode and try to guess things :P

Anonymous

Blood bending is the forbidden jutsu, I wouldn't expect it to be a normal thing in this society. Also, the witch from the original said that only special water benders can blood bend

Rodrigo Borges

Next episode is soooooooooooooo lit btw

Anonymous

Yes! I knew you guys would love this. Tbh, I prefer this avatar over the other. Don't get me wrong, it is an epic kid's show but it never tackles the real issues like Korra does. In short, I really think you all will come to love LOK as much as I did even without the old GAang. I do miss Azula though...

Anonymous

By the sound of it they already saw the next episode and im predicting Nahid absolutely loved that one. It is my personal favourite out of season 1

thenormies

I know thats what we were trying to figure out. But really though we jus didnt know what to think. I mean after all this time we meet a waterbender who can bloodbend....WITHOUT A FULL MOON. Anything is open to a possibility it feels like. - Nahid

Yess last 4 episodes are amazing as well!! I just love season 1 so much

Anonymous

I’m so excited for the next episode!!!!!!!!

Anonamai

Dudes do the math. You probably have seen the next episode by now so you know who that character is. BTW I loved the cringe when they called themselves Team Avatar. It’s ok guys, Korra is Aang. Aang is still there.

Anonymous

Except Sokka was also smart where as Bolin is just kinda stupid.

Burooj Ahanger

exactly thats why its weird to compare the shows. they are fundamentally different genres. ATLA is closer to Harry potter(coming of age/hero journey) than it is to Korra which is a a more nuanced look into the universe story about the aspects like the politics and technology, inequality. ideology etc. this episode especially felt like a procedural live action tv show. you dont compare game of thrones to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. lol(tho atla and korra are closer than these 2 are)

Lalisa Truong

I loved the tension and atmosphere they set up this episode! The title "When Extremes Meet" really summed up this episode perfectly! Amon goes to the extremes to achieve his goals of equality and to fight back against ALL benders. In retaliation, Tarrlok does the exact same against ALL nonbenders. Fear and prejudice at its finest. Loved Korra and Tarrlok's fight and how Korra was about to make Tarrlok eat his own words about her being a "half-baked Avatar". She was literally about to straight up murder him ...or just give him a pretty scar ;) That ending shot of the moon confirmed Tarrlok was able to indeed bloodbend without a full moon. The details! Straight up got chills when the camera panned up to the moon like that.

Anthony

It's perfectly normal to compare the shows, it's why the show keeps showing the huge statue of Aang and why we keep seeing flashbacks to the OG team avatar. We can also acknowledge that they are trying to do something different with the Korra show.

Cytosise

"Don't get me wrong, it is an epic kid's show but it never tackles the real issues like Korra does", you didn't understand or appreciate ATLA fully then if you think it didn't tackle mature themes and real issues. Major part of the reason why I dislike the "LoK is more mature than ATLA" narrative which is just false btw, is just because ATLA had good light-hearted humour as well doesn't mean it didn't deal with adult themes and was less mature. If anything LoK can be criticised for having just overall plain bad and unfunny humour.

Burooj Ahanger

I agree somewhat. you can obviously talk about the similarities and differences in the the 2 shows since they are in the same universe after all. but for example i don't think they should be comparing it like they did when they used the car. or complain about korra's story not being as adventurous when its not even trying to be that. you can obviously compare the characters or the world and its elements and the bending. but it becomes a biased opinion when they say this isn't "as good" because they used a car. its different yes. but that doesn't make it nessaracy better or worse. there's nostalgia getting in the way. similar to the change in bending styles, where the styles are more boxing inspired and airbending that tenzin does is more aggressive than aangs, neither style is more right or wrong by the universe's own rules but when reactors do compare its always in the favor of the show they first watched. Its similar to how Aang himself would get angry when they messed with the northern air temple.

John Doe

Zuko's emotional torment, the genocide of the Air Nation, and the global conquest and oppression by the Fire Nation whose overbearing influence can be felt throughout the entire series are all better written and darker than what LOK offers. Don't be fooled by the slapstick humor present in ATLA, and don't mistake the gloomy lighting and scattered edgy scenes in Korra as "more mature"

Anonymous

Oh wow I didn't expect a reply. I actually could write a book about the many problems I had with ATLA, but again it is my opinion. Yes, the themes were there, but no, it missed the marked compared to Lok. Many episodes were boring and way too kiddie for the topics the creators were trying to explore, whereas I can honestly rewatch every episode of Korra and enjoy them. Azula was the only thing that kept me interested, unfortunately, she was a villain...

Saviour Bawa

I think Amon is the solution..

Anonymous

If you think ATLA - especially Book 2 and Book 3 - had many boring episodes and were "too kiddie", but you liked LoK, there's nothing else I can say besides that you seem to have a really really bad sense of good characters, development, storywriting and world building. ATLA was more mature than LoK in every way, besides LoK just having more deaths and epic fight scenes.

Lalisa Truong

I liked how LOK handled its villains better though as well as a few topic issues that the show delved more into as opposed to ATLA. I'd go into more detail but spoilers if I did. I also think both shows handled certain things better than the other and some things not as good as the other. Just my opinion though. Overall, they both brought great things to the table.

Lalisa Truong

I agree. We can compare since this show does take place in the same world and everything, but when it comes to story and characters, we have to understand that it's not going to be the same as the first show. I still see people saying Bolin is basically "Sokka 2.0" or "Earthbending Sokka" even though when you really look at it, they're nothing alike. Things like this, it's like you said, that's just nostalgia getting in the way.

Azmi

So Nahid is DC's Amanda Waller?

4Tom4lepus4

stzz33, it wasn't. And you don't need to get passive-aggressive with your "you seem to have a really bad sense of good charaters"-bla bla. Both ATLA and LOK have their strengths and weaknesses and yes, LOK did deal with more mature stuff (which I can't go into detail about because spoilers) and did a much better job at portraying its villains compared to someone like Ozai, who was a one-note bad guy. So don't shit on people for preferring LOK. I personally loved ATLA, but I agree, there were some episodes, especially season 1, that I skip whereas I never skip anything with LOK.

thenormies

I get Amon man... I understand his Point of view. I also like his mask ALOT - Nahid

Anonymous

Agreed. I only recently watched all of season 1 ATLA. It doesn't pick up until mid season 2. Korra had the advantage of a futuristic model and having our background knowledge and hindsight with the world ATLA built, but overall, better stories and characters. We saw varying perspectives and different ideals. We're not forced to pick a side, but allowed to empathize with the villains. And yes, I know a great story, plotline and etc. I knew Game of Thrones was a great story before the show gained its following so be respectful of other's opinions. Even the Normies seem more engaged already and they haven't finished season 1...Proof that LOK deserves kudos also.

Anthony

Nobody cared about Amonymous until he put on his mask

Ryanne Gentry

Do they realize that Korra's polar bear dog is a girl? And the way that Tarlok is rounding up the non benders is similar how the US rounded up Japanese-Americans during world war ii

Feyd-akin Skywalker

Populists are often hypocritical...just saying.

Feyd-akin Skywalker

...Are you seriously defending false populism when that is specifically what S1 of Korra is about?

Phonic Reassignment

aang meditated for 100 years so avater state wouldve go him out of a lot, he's more spiritual and he was a master airbender already

Jose

Omg eveyone saying ATLA is better than the other one or vice versa. People can't we just live peacefully and highly appreciate what these two tv shows are as they are. In my personal opinion I love them both equally regardless of their characteristics, they are both really awesome, meaningful, and adventurous.

Condowling

Nothing better than just making food then sitting down to see a new Avatar upload <3

Chai Tea

Thanks for working hard to get this out for us Suraj! <3

America is kind of doing it. Just read some of the stories about ICE. From rounding up entire groups and holding them all against their will, regardless of their citizenship, and locking up a US citizen for 3 years. Peaceful protesters are also arrested a lot too. And the reason some people need the full moon to blood bend is because the full moon gives them more power, but it's not necessary if your abilities are already good enough. It's like a buff in an RPG.

Anonymous

I’m assuming this was rec last night

Neil Patel

Suraj you da real mvp

Adam is Magic

Bloodbending is back! And it’s more powerful this time! Every episode from here on out is crazy!

Reggie Pace

Just wait...THERE'S MORE!!

4Tom4lepus4

I forgot how good this episode was, damn. Also, I love how one can tell that they're really getting into it even if they sometimes say they're not. Just looking at that scene where Asami is arrested :D

Anonymous

Next episode is my top 3 favorites

Jackson Ranger

If you haven't noticed yet, Bolin is pretty much just earthbending Sokka. I love Korra but it always annoyed me a little when they used "team avatar" because I associate it more with Aang.

Jigga Man

the avatah!

jayjay2961

how can it be Tarlock in the flashback if Tenzin was a kid then.

Alex

I like that they pointed out how different Korra's problems are to Aang's. Really loved that they brought that up and how they are getting that this is not AANG'S story. Two completely different shows.
