Just Your Thanksgiving (Merry Thanksgiving Musical)
And here we have the final song from a short 11 minute musical from my school's winter concert. Jasper wrote the main melody, and I constructed the chords, structure, and lyrics! Hopefully we get footage of the performance and can make HD versions of all the songs! Hope y'all enjoy!
Lyrics:
First off I’m the kick off to the holiday
The first quarter of the festive 2 month array
I set the stage for all the joy that is to come
I press play on all the songs that you’ll soon hum
On the week about me
All of the kids are set free
7 days of no work
7 days of intrigue
And that’s a weight off their shoulders
And maybe some time to get their grades all in order
I guess you could go thank me for setting up
I guess I could just thank you for keeping me alive
I guess we could thank Mrs. Hale for vouching all this time
But now I’ve got to prepare, no time to sit here and stare
Given a Week, I’ll show you it all
Bring it back, it’s a holiday recall
Appreciating what’s been brung
The dinner bell is what’s been rung
There’s a reason when you hear me
Your first thought is delicious turkey
Family Matters, Tables, Platters
Grab your list, I’ll deal it faster
Let’s see
What’s on my list of merry groceries
A turkey, some cornbread, some collard greens
Does that say buttermilk biscuits and some skillet green beans
The list is large, I think I’m out of my depth
Good thing every family gets to choose what they get
But food is just a topping on the special event
Discussing politics once the table is set--
“Well… I guess not that…”
I guess I could just thank food, they spice it up
I guess I could just thank the news, for making table manners die
I guess go thank Mrs. Hale, for choosing great ol’ pumpkin pie
Given a Week, I’ll show you it all
Bring it back, it’s a holiday recall
Appreciating what’s been brung
The dinner bell is what’s been rung
There’s a reason when you hear me
Your first thought is delicious turkey
Family Matters, Tables, Platters
Grab your siblings, I’ve got something to say
I know I know I’m not like Christmas… No jingling bells, no fat man breaking and entering
I know I know I’m not like New Years Eve, Definitely not Halloween, I’m just your Thanksgiving
Just Your Thanksgiving
First off I’m the kick off to the holiday
The first quarter of the festive 2 month array
I set the stage for all the joy that is to come
I press play on all the songs that you’ll soon hum
