I’m so glad you liked this! It’s one of the few horror movies that has really stuck with me, partially because the legal drama aspect of it grounds the horror elements in reality in a way that over-the-top exorcism movies never do. The horror is entirely carried by Jennifer Carpenter because the narrative demands interiority in the horror — her body movements and vocalizations and expressions have to carry the movie because they could not rely on unexplainable things like levitation or everyone seeing monstrous apparitions — everything HAD to have an alternative medical explanation for the story to hold up. Just an all around great movie imo.
