Dream Interpretation: The Sea (Patreon)

The topic of this post is about dream interpretations for the sea. Have you had any dreams about the sea?
General Overview and Meaning
The ocean represents our emotions and our subconscious as a whole. Often times the movement and behavior of the waters in your dream will indicate the meaning behind it. The ocean can also represent over all uncertainty a dreamer may have in their waking life and the endless possibilities. It is such a vast body of water that it shows the “never-ending” in some aspects. It may also represent someone being in a “sea of worries”.
Specific Dream Situations
Traveling or Voyaging Across the Sea: You are navigating through a point of your life that is uncertain and overwhelming, making it feel enormous.
A Calm Ocean: For those in a relationship, a calm sea dream relates to peace in the relationship. It also relates to emotional balance. Issues you previously had have been dealt with.
Swimming in the Sea: You are currently facing a challenge in your waking life. If the ocean is very calm, then it means you are currently solving that issue.
Falling Into the Sea: You are in a confrontation or struggle in your waking life and it feels very overwhelming to you.
Pink Colored Ocean: You are very lustful for someone, possibly to an unhealthy level. This is a warning that you are likely taking it too far and need to stop.
Stormy Ocean/Large Unceasing Waves: This is generally a bad sign - conflicts, scandal and emotional distress are strongly present in your waking life. May relate to the dreamer being a target of another who is causing these issues. Some say its a sign of family quarrels.
Wave Watching from the Shore: Generally means things are well in your waking life. Nothing too concerning is going on.
Gathering/Collecting Sea Shells: Means you may let a secret slip soon. Some associate it with lowering one’s guards and walls, but possibly to the wrong person. Be careful what you say for a little while
Walking along the Shoreline: usually relates to new experiences you found you enjoyed and possibly may become new found hobbies, passions and past times.
Diving into the Sea: You are currently exploring your own emotions and desires more deeply. Self discovery may be something to look into after having these dreams.
Bathing in the Ocean: You have found yourself in an unpleasant situation. May be a warning to think through your wording better.
Drowning in the Sea: You need to step back and rethink your waking life. Something is dragging you down and you need to figure out what it is so it can be addressed.
Sailing Across the Sea: May relate to feelings of freedom you’ve recently discovered. It also can relate to the dreamer’s courage and eagerness to explore the new.
Sailing in a Storm: You are experiencing great emotional upset
Waves Knock You Over at the Beach: You are too focused on your social life and are ignoring your responsibilities.
Standing in Sea Water: You are worried for another
Feet in the Sand in Lapping Waves: You are having a good period with your friends and peers right now with little to no drama.
Walking atop the Sea: You are having success in your love life and/or social life
Lost at Sea: you are in deep emotional conflict and its starting to get to you. You need to make some time to really look over your situation and make some choices.
Shipwrecked/Seeing a Wrecked Ship: You recently have been faced with failure and you are still dwelling on it.
Being in a Life Boat: You may feel overwhelmed but there’s a solution to this that you are overlooking. You need to rethink the problem, rework it and take some time to thing to help you realize this solution. May also relate to feeling like you are lonely or missing someone if you are adrift in the rain or a storm in a life boat. Your life boat sinking implies you are panicking over a situation.
Fishing Boat at Sea: This hints to remind the dreamer that they have work to do. A bountiful haul on the boat relates to financial gain.
Breathing Underwater (specifically in the Ocean): You may feel like you are confronted by a lot of emotion right now but are working on it. You are in the process of calming down, moving on and returning to the “norm”.
Anchor: A symbol of strength and holding one’s ground. Missing an anchor or losing it means you feel at the mercy of something or someone. Being tied to an anchor indicates you are unwilling to stand up for yourself.
