Solitary Yule Ritual (Patreon)
Content
Hey witches! Thank you so much for your patience! Some new witches have requested the content from the previous newsletters that were e-mailed out, so I'd like to include that content here on Patreon for anyone who missed out on those e-mails! You may not have those e-mails saved if you received them already and may want to see them again, too.
Yule, also known as Yuletide, is on December 21st in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the Winter Solstice that celebrates the longest night of the year. It also celebrates the sun's strength and power starting to grow and renew. Celebrations involve tree decorating, Yule logs, reflection and feasting. This ritual can also be done for Litha, which is the sabbat for the Southern Hemisphere. All you would do differently is use correspondences for Litha.
What You Need:
- Herbs and planets (Gathered or purchased)
- Crystals
- Candles
- Guided meditation (optional)
- Essential oils and diffuser (optional)
First, a couple days or so before your ritual, gather planets and herbs that are either wild or purchased. You can choose the types of herbs and plants that you are drawn to or correspond to Yule. For instance, herbs and plants that correspond with Yule are birch, ivy, rosemary, sage, holly, pine, pine cones, poinsettias, chamomile, mistletoe, cinnamon, etc. It's ideal to do this ritual before the sun comes up. Right before you decide to do your ritual, you may want to diffuse a Yule Essential Oil Blend before beginning. (Remember, this is optional! You can customize this by burning candles, incense, etc) An essential oil blend to try is: 5 drops of pine, 4 drops of cinnamon and 3 drops of peppermint. Other oils to try to create your own blends with are wintergreen, spruce, orange, lavender, juniper, nutmeg, ginger, sandalwood, myrrh, etc! Next, arrange the herbs and plants you have in a circle on the floor or ground around you. Place your candles around you, (if you have them!) Color correspondences for candles for Yule are gold, green, white and red. Place your crystals (if you have them!) around you, as well, or in the center. Choose crystals that you are drawn to or that correspond with Yule. Crystals that correspond are bloodstone, garnet, emerald, clear quartz, ruby, diamonds, etc.
Sit in your circle and put on your guided meditation that resonates with you. These could be found through various apps or YouTube videos. There's many categories for you to choose what resonates with you. Do this while the sun starts to rise and feel the energies of the Winter Solstice. Try to get a view of the sun rising whether you are outside or inside. If you do not have a guided meditation, that's okay! Meditation with the feelings of the Yule! Think about the energies of reflection, regrowth and the meanings of Yule. Welcome this energy, cleanse negative feelings with the healing energy of the winter solstice, and meditate on gratitude. After you are done meditating, go out and celebrate! Have a feast, decorate your tree, go out in the snow, light a Yule Log, etc!
