Here is a great article that talks about how you can use each moon phase in your spells and rituals by Joanna C. Valente. Do you do any of these?

The moon is a powerful part of the universe. Most occultists and magic practitioners know this, and work to understand how to harness the power of each moon phase to craft and strengthen rituals and spells. The moon, like everything in nature, has its own energy that we can channel. For me, I especially love the moon, and love merging water and the moon’s energy together when I do spells.

Here are the different phases of the moon and suggestions for how to do spellwork within these phases:

PHASE 1: NEW MOON

The new moon is, as it sounds, a beginning, which is a good time to do any kind of spell, because there’s a new energy in the world. You can literally feel the ooze of excitement and anticipation. When the moon is hidden, it can be useful to focus on the hidden parts of you and your life, or things that you want to bring to the surface. Maybe there is tension at work or in your relationship that you often don’t want to acknowledge. This is a time to focus on it.

Set a goal for yourself. This is a time to focus on you and your future and what you want your life to look like. So, you can do anything from a rejuvenation bath and filling it with salts or doing something more intricate and placing the spell in moonlight overnight, like a job manifestation spell.

PHASE 2: WAXING MOON

The waxing moon is when the moon literally becomes luminous, a beautiful orb in the sky. This is a good time to focus on aspects of your life that you want to give attention to, especially personal parts, such as love, self-discovery, and empathy. What makes you full with joy? Focus on spells that better us and make us happier and more fulfilled. I typically journal during these times to understand what brings me meaning and value. Candle work, which is also bright and luminous, can be a complimentary ritual at this time, even if just lighting a candle and reading a letter of intention for a loved one who is sick.

PHASE 3: FULL MOON

The full moon is probably the most popular phase, considering its in its full glory. The intensity is often saved for some of our most powerful spells and intentions. For me, I use water when I do spells, and let the water charge under the moonlight for strength in conjunction with the spell, hence making moon water. You can do this with crystals or any meaningful object to you. You can also pour this water into a bath you take later on in the month or incorporate the water into a spell with a loved one.

PHASE 4: WANING MOON

The waning moon is literally when the moon wanes, and becomes dark again. This is a time to think about others, not just yourself. It’s a reminder to shine the light elsewhere. Conversely, is there someone in your life who is toxic, or if not someone, a habit or situation? This can be a good time to let go of those situations. Purge yourself of anything negative or toxic - let go of your fears. This can be a good time to use fire in your rituals, even by burning a letter of intention and/or doing a banishment spell.

PHASE 5: DARK MOON

The dark moon is a right before the next lunar cycle that can be particularly powerful, although any spell during this time should be well thought out. It’s a time for work bigger than you, beyond the personal, and deals with larger concerns or situations that involve multiple people (such as a death, addiction, divorce). If you want to quit smoking, for instance, it’s possible to do a spell to give you the willpower to help you (though, please note no spell will just simply make you stop doing something; rather it’s giving you positive energy).

NOTES:

As with any magic, there’s no hard and fast rules, and most of this is learned by trial and error, and picking up on different methods that work for you. Because of that, there is no one guide, but allowing yourself to listen and be open to many methods. Use your intuition on how the phases can help you.
