Let's talk about traveling spells! Here are some ideas for spells you could use whether you’re traveling or someone you know is traveling. You can also create your own candle spells, spell jars, sachets and more by using the provided lists of herbs, crystals and candle colors. There are various protection spells many could cast to aid their travels. Here are a few collected from Judika Illes “Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells” and The Alchemist's Kitchen. 

Moon’s Protective Mojo Hand by Judika Illes

This is a spell found by Illes. Mojo bags are protective talismans from African-American Hoodoo that offer a variety of different results. This one in particular is meant to harness the power of the moon to protect its creator. Please ensure you do ample research on the history and significance of Mojo bags before attempting this spell.

Place a moonstone, a clear quartz crystal, and smoky quartz into a beaded bag.

Add moonwort and a silver bead.

Dress with white camphor essential oil (or any light perfume) and carry/wear the bag wherever you go.

Traveler’s Mirror Charm by Judika Illes

Another from Illes, this charm is easy to have on hand! All you need is a small mirror (makeup compacts work great) and a peeled, crushed clove of garlic. Simply rub the garlic on the mirror and place it under your hotel bed/any bed within an unprotected room and bam, instant protection charm!

Salt, Salt, and Silver by The Alchemists Kitchen

Take a small glass jar that you can cover (cork, stopper, etc.) and cleanse it how you see fit. I usually use incense smoke.

In the jar, add a layer of black salt.

Next, do a layer of white OR pink Himalayan salt, both work well.

Finally, add a small piece of silver. This can be an earring, a silver marble, anything that will fit and is silver will work.

Carry this talisman with you wherever you travel to invoke its protective properties.

Remember, these spells are only as powerful as the trust and energy you feed to them. And don’t allow them to substitute common sense– if you ever feel unsafe in a traveling situation, be sure to have a few backup plans!

Safe Travel Candle Spell by Cultivating Magick

Combined with black and white candles, which can be used to open and cast a circle, you can also use a yellow and brown candle. Yellow can represent health, as well as, creating and maintaining a healthy condition of the body. Brown represents the return of lost items and will return the person the person the spell is lit for. Combined with the yellow, they will return in the same healthy state in which they left.

Carve into the brown candle the words “SAFE TRAVELS”, and keep it lit until the person has safely touched down in their intended destination.

To align the spell with someone not in your immediate family, write their name on a piece of paper and store it beneath the yellow candle. While the candle burns, the energy is being sent directly to them. When they’ve reached their destination, blow out the candle and store it away to be used another time.

You can use a brown pillar candle for this. You can reuse the candle several times until it’s completely burned down, because it’s essentially the same spell over and over, just directed at someone new each time.

Another spell to do is one on a Bay Leaf - which is great for protection. Write “SAFE TRAVELS” on the leaf and give it to the person who is traveling. This is especially potent for those traveling by air, as Bay Leaves are a natural anxiety reducer (and many of us have fears of flying).

A Simple Spell For Attracting Travel Into Your Life by Wiccan Spells

Ingredients:

- 1 x Small Fan (non battery operated)

- 1 x Small light feather.

- 1 x Dried mint (which can be boosted with some peppermint essential oil)

- 1 x Small dish

Place the mint into the dish (add the essential oil if desired). Lean over the bowl of mint and inhale the scent. Whilst inhaling visualise the magic of travelling, the scents, scenery, experiences that you desire. Toss the feather into the air (you can infuse it with the mint if desired). Use the fan to keep the feather airborne. Imagine the feather is you moving to different places in the world. Allow the feather to rest in the mint. Take a few more breaths of minty aroma. Each day, for as long as you feel you need to, inhale the scent of the mint, and visualise your travels.

The Simplest Spell For Success by Wiccan Spells

Note: This can be used alone, or to boost other spells particularly the travel attraction spell.

Ingredients for Success Spell:

-1 x Orange Candle (for attraction)

- 1 x Green Candle (for luck)

- Orange Oil or Van Van oil

Anoint the candles with the oil. Place Green Candle to the left of you. Place the orange candle to the right. Light both candles and when you are doing so visualise or sense your desires. Whilst they are burning, meditate and visualise luck coming to you. You can change the candles to attract different kinds of luck, and you could enforce this spell by writing down your wishes and burning them. Not specifying your desires and just imagining being ‘successful’ will not block anything that you don’t know about yet! 

Safe Travel Charm by Wiccan Spells

Ingredients:

- 1 x Orange pouch

- 2 x Orange spell candles *preferably small like chime candles you can burn them all the way down*

- Amethyst or Crystal Quartz Stones

- Dried mint

-Piece of paper and a pen (with black ink preferably)

Creating Your Safe Travel Charm:

Light your orange candles, and place them in front of you. As the candles burn, visualise your intentions for safe travel. When the candles have burned down move onto step 4. Draw a symbol or representation of protection that means something to you on a piece of paper. If you don’t know what to use, try the pentagon. Fold the paper three times and place into the pouch. Add to the pouch the stones and herbs. Seal the bag. Visualise a white light flowing through you and filling your aura, as you imagine yourself arriving at your destination safely. Take your pouch with you, using the white light visualisation to enhance it whenever you can.

A Chant for Travelling Safely by Wiccan Spells

A chant can be used to boost your spells – giving them much more potency. Here’s a travel chant that you could use with any of the above spells. To make the most of it, light some candles (orange is good for travel) and raise your hands whilst chanting the following 3 times:

“Bless our journey and keep us from harm,

With light of protection and spells and charms.

Our path be clear and free from strife,

Many more happy adventures left upon my life”.

Create Your Own Safe Travel Spell by Wiccan Spells

Certain natural items possess certain properties that, when harnessed, can adjust the vibrations around you! Why not create your own travel spell, fast track yourself by copying some of the techniques above, use the chant above, or create your own, add your own ingredients, to create a spell that suits you. Why not give it a whirl it’s fun, and very empowering! Here’s an example of some of the best herbs, candle colours, and crystals that can help get you started. Remember – it’s the intention that always delivers the best spells, so make sure your intention is clear, honest, kind and not aimed at another person directly and you won’t go wrong.

Borage = Courage

Chrysanthemum = Protection & Cheerfulness

Irish Moss = Money, Luck & Protection

Comfrey Leaf = a popular travel herb that draws in protective energies

Lavender = serenity and safety, a baggie of lavender hanging from your rear view will both smell amazing and calm any nerves you may find on the road.

Candles that would benefit good travel:

Orange = Attraction, Stimulation, Experiences

Green = Money and Luck

White = Cleansing and pure

Gold = Protection, success

Stones to include:

Amethyst = A wonderful protector, promotes clarity and peace, which makes it ideal to stow in your glovebox during a long car ride

Obsidian = Protective, removes negativity.

Ruby = A sense of adventure, and is healing to the earth!

Tigers Eye = Confidence and courage for meeting new people on your travels, grounding and protection

Carnelian = Fabulous to use when wanting to meet new people on the road

Shungite = Grounding, purifying properties, shield from negative energies and expels them from wherever it is used. Carry a bit of Shungite in your carry-on for safe plane travels, or attach a Shungite sticker to your phone to rid it of negative callers.

Safe Travels - A Spell Jar by Becoming Witchy

Materials:

- Cinnamon, for Focus

- Basil, for protection and peace of mind

- Sea Salt, for protection

- Egg Shell, also for protection

- Clover, for luck

- Garnet, for banishing negativity

Sealed with Gold Wax for success and courage!

Intent: “I will return safely home.” Or you can change this intent for someone else or use a different intention altogether.
