We have some unfortunate news to share with you regarding this month's planned releases, and we want to be as transparent as possible about the situation.

We’ve received a copyright-related warning regarding our design for Demet last month release.

As some of you may know, we've been working on the War Emperor model and a special 3-month loyalty diorama (which was going to feature D- diorama), both of which were set to be released soon. After carefully reviewing the situation, we've decided that we will not be able to release these models this month.

The models have some similarities to existing intellectual property, and we want to be extra cautious to avoid any potential copyright complications. Unfortunately, this means we will also be removing the Demet model from our listings. We deeply apologize for this inconvenience and for the disappointment this may cause.

We put a lot of time and effort into creating these models, and it’s truly heartbreaking to have to pull them back, but we want to prioritize being compliant with copyright laws and protecting our community from any legal trouble. We’ll be working hard to make sure this doesn’t happen again by steering clear of designs that might infringe on any existing intellectual property.

What Does This Mean for You?

For this month, we won’t be able to release the War Emperor model or the 3-month loyalty diorama.

Solution:

Instead, to make up for this, we’ll be opening up a Suggestion Post soon, and we can’t wait to see which character you guys suggest. So, we'd pick the characters from your suggestion and do those characters to fill up the missing models.

For Our Merchant Tier Members

We want to remind all our merchant tier members not to list or sell Demet last month model on any platform, as it could lead to serious copyright issues for everyone involved. We’re doing everything we can to avoid further complications and legal risks.

A Final Word

We’re genuinely sad and tired from dealing with this constant copyright stress. It’s been affecting our workflow and causing a lot of emotional strain. We’ve always tried to be as creative and free as possible, but we now need to be extra cautious with the characters we create to ensure we’re not violating any rules.

We really appreciate your understanding during this difficult time, and we’re grateful for the support we’ve received. We’ll continue to be transparent with all of you, as always, and we hope to bring you some awesome models in the future that are free from these complications.

Games workshop is very serious about it's ip. Making any warhammer figures is a very bad idea.

Dennis Weiss

This is sad news, but thanks for being so open and upfront with this. Staying save with your whole project is more important then any single model, so I guess that most won't mind your decision.

AnthonyM1973

The poison chalice of GW IP strikes again! You’d think a company that draws on so many sources would celebrate the wider community, especially given GW doesn’t produce figurines in the same scale!

Christian megna

Many other creators on patreon have been contacted for GW copyright strikes recently, and it seems most were from a non-valid source, and were able to combat the strike through patreon and were able to keep their content. I know the situation sucks, but you might have an option to counter a false claim

G4bberGandalf

but its only about those modells related to the game. the older modells (war sisters etc) arent the issue, right?

David Smith

I would look into this. A couple of other Patreon creators received the same thing but found it was from someone not associated with GW and a gmail account. Might get lucky and find the same.

G4bberGandalf

yes they are gatekeepers. coping other ips but are very seroius about their own ips

Kammf

Thanks for the explanation. From my point of view, a “neutral” diorama could be created instead of the diorama complained about. This neutral diorama (e.g. a street diorama) could then be used by the members for any of the excellent OXO3D figures.

AnthonyM1973

Will they be after your other models like certain Space Elves and Warrior Sisters?

Mark Fergel

That sucks. Was looking forward to it but understand it's out of your control.

Dillon Murphy

GW got my Etsy shop shut down in December. From what I have seen they have been on overdrive recently to take this kind of content down (crazy sincr they are as successful as they've ever been and are actively harming their own community). They are notoriously litigious when it comes to this stuff

Dominic Morin

Im sorry i dont really get it. you are surprised to get copyright strikes but pretty much all your models are IPs from existing franchises. Be it warhammer / marvel / games these are all existing characters.

Alfredo

You know Galactic Armory is having the same issue and they're fighting it, you should fighting it too, as far as I'm concerned GW does not have a "war emperor" model in their line of model. Also there's a chance is not even GW who's sending these copyright strikes. In galactic armory's case it was some random dude, not GW themselves

Jerem

I Only have subscription with you for warhammer « like » concept :( i add it for the diorama as well :(

David Smith

I’m not saying it’s not them or not legit. But, other Patreon creators got the same thing but found it to be a fake anonymous user. Just saying it doesn’t hurt to ask Patreon to verify.

Joe Pund

Fucking James Workshop strikes again :(

DocKnocks

To clarify, Demet models will be moved off from everywhere even if they are redeemed in the past? Including other sites beside patreon?

oxo3dprinting

They haven't mentioned about earlier models (old). But, we really did many older models based on several fanartwork. We are not sure, what these guys would do. Even slight or smaller resemblance would cause us trouble.

Hadrianus

i subscribed in november for the loyalty reward to be recieved in januar. now i payed the 3 months and i dont get it. that sucks. and yes, every model is a copyright violatation. anyway, of course i undo my subscription now. thx for nothing

G4bberGandalf

As long as its not offical. See it as trolling. Changing names and no visibility to non subscribers, can help a lot

Michael

You should file a counter claim, and reach out to Galactic Armory. They got a bogus DMCA takedown from a fraudster and fought it with Patreon and were about to get their 40k content reinstated. It was not authentically from Games Workshop

Haktar

Not sure what some people are crying about, these things happen, you have to do what's best legally and you've offered to replace the models! I appreciate how upfront you were and I look forward to the suggestion post

Ragnarocke

Any chance of picking up the black clad Assassin lady series? They are kind of innocuous-

scott schmidt

This should be no surprise as Warhammer peeps are super aggressive defending their brand and copyrights. That’s why no one else makes them. If I were the subscribers that like the previous warhammer stuff go in and download all your war sister stuff before it gets deleted also…

1776Calgar

very disappointed to hear this. i subscribed mainly to get the "marn space warrior" and emperor designs. I WILL STAY SUBSSCRIBED for your future releases because the quality of your work is well worth it. I hope you never shy away from walking the fine line you do to bring us the designs we so crave. Thank you for the hard work and sorry you were not able to release it.

Jerem

I think its because you post your work on cult3D, wich is mainly Watch by GW for copyrighted stuff

scott schmidt

So why would you be mad at Games Workshop for defending something they designed and marketed? Granted it’s a bummer to not get the sculpts for the artist is absolutely right to pull it as he does not need headache or lawsuit… plenty of other sculpts we can print.. if you want warhammer buy from Games workshop… that’s how they want it.. or decide to play a new game …

Kevin Côté

Does this impact the former release of similar IP in the last year? I didn't had time to download them

Elbee

Insider info, Games Workshop has one of the largest Copyright protection teams in the US. They have the resources, and the follow through that most companies don't. Im sure others will follow, but GW is the one i would avoid the most.

Jeremy Lord

Even if you make it and you make it up slightly different or that or go a different route with it, you're still fine with it. They have never made anything for the golden emperor for more hammer. 40K, so you're really fine with it. Not how many people make stuff from warhammer? It's just those certain ones that think they can. Get anyone else in trouble? I have so much stuff. Printed from war hammer that it aint funny.

Ryan Chinn

It hurts but it's ok. Been subscribed for over a year, well before you started on that particular line. Looking forward to what you bring us next

ElderBlueDragon

As said above re: Galactic Armory bogus DMCA . Try fight it to get person to prove it. Just change naming slightly alter it. The 3 month reward was a large reason i joined. Would be shame to pull it without trying to counter it. There are so many artists that make near exact copies of their actual models / size / design, ( kit built figures ). That is their whole collection. Yet you get this for a few models. Sounds dubious tbh. Start using different names for characters not their IP owned names. I'm with many tribes and that is what they do to avoid lots issues.

ElderBlueDragon

not crying but one main reasons i joined was for the 3 month WH reward. If advertise that but not try and fight it would be disappointing !! Especially with several fake DMCA's lately with other tribes IE Galactic Armoury

Andres Salinas

For the month release, the Batwoman who Laughs. For the 3 month Diorama the Batman Who Laughs with a few of his Robins.

Andres Salinas

Or I would love to see some Solo Leveling characters

Joshua Butler

Yeah, there are some DMCA bots going around. Seen similar stuff happening to other patreons before SM2 dropped. Now that it's out and popular the same bad actors are at it again. On YouTube and twitch you have people claiming they own the soundtrack to SM2. They just hope that the YouTuber or streamer doesn't notice or fight it so they can have some of the add revenue.

Night Creativity

I also try to be cautious about copyrights too for my business, even when acquiring models from patreon like yours, have you guys had any sort of workflow to check those licenses out ? I've been trying to check those that I am suspicious of with chatgpt, not sure how reliable my responses have been, haven't had any copyrights claims since thought.

Roberto Paz

Comic book Dawn is my suggestion for a new character

SHING

GW should be honored to have such great artists paying homage to their brand and grateful for the free promotion!

Boris

Wil the golden king be released next month of some time in the near future. I specifically stayed a Patreon because of this model. If not then i will cancel.
