Kasa Jizo is folk tale of an old couple who whose generosity is rewarded by a buddha god named Jizo.

Hanasaka Jiisan is a folk tale of a kind old man who can make any dead trees bloom.

Omusubi Kororin is a folk tale of an old man whose omusubi rolled down the hill into a hole and the mice rejoices for the food he provided and offered a souvenir.

Shita-kiri Suzume is a fable telling of a kind old man, his avaricious wife and an injured sparrow.

Kobutori Jiisan is a tale about an old man who lost his lump or wen after joining a party of devils celebrate and dance for a night.

Taketori Monogatari or Kaguya-hime no Monogatari is tale of a tiny nymph found inside a bamboo stalk grows into a beautiful and desirable young woman, who orders her suitors to prove their love by completing a series of near-impossible tasks.

Gankutsu or The Count of Monte Cristo is a story of Dantes, a sailor is falsely accused of treason by his best friend Fernand, who wants Dantes' girlfriend Mercedes for himself. Dantes is imprisoned on the island prison of Chateau d'If for 13 years.
