TLDR - Old Background Art is being vastly improved upon and work has started on turning the not-so-secret Gallery into a proper H-Game Gallery.

Early Access is a few weeks away. This is crazy! I am thrilled to thank each and every one of you who has supported this game and all of the new people wishlisting it. I think we're actually now visible on STEAM's Popular Upcoming list, which is a huge feat for me.

Anyhow, onto the nitty-gritty of the post.

Backgrounds

I've been taking a break from writing the main story cause the mojo is just not really there. I know where the story goes, and what the endings will be like, but I don't want to just force my way through the writing. So I've been working to improve the start of the game, which is just as important if not more important then the ending. I've found that my style of production / scripting and just everything has changed a lot so Island 1.

There have been many areas to fix up and are there are probably still hidden bugs. I'll continue asking for your help to identify problem spots so we can fix them up. One of the other points I've wanted to improve on has been the background art. With such a small team and limited resources, I just made basic art for the backgrounds when we started. You can see an example above.

Thankfully, now with grit and support, we have some really amazing hand-drawn backgrounds for players to enjoy and make the world of Sunwave Hotel pop with much more vibrancy. I'll always enjoy the old basic ones, but when SH is complete, all the backgrounds will have a much more polished state.

Gallery

For anyone who has already played one of the free versions, you know that the gallery is in a not-so-secret place just off the main town. Obviously, that is not going to be a permanent thing going forward. I have just sent word to the coder to set to work on making the Gallery part of the Main Menu. At some point, probably in early 2024, the gallery will also work like a normal game gallery, with the content unlocking as you unlock scenes in the game.

And I think that's all I have for today. Thanks for reading.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

You can check out the previous builds for free right here. Available on PC, Linux, Mac and Android.

Every bit of support on the Patreon goes to help finish the game, including adding animations for scenes and more polish to just about everything. Even in its current stage, the game already has over 50 scenes for players to enjoy.

Definitely looks a lot better if not a little clearer.
