Just joined the party. I also joined Voyager very late in the fifth season, but eventually caught up. I'm working hard to catch up now, and I'm loving the podcast, RDM is such a professional and his deep insight is quite enjoyable, I must confess, I was not expecting that. My little contribution: since the verb Dampen means "make less strong" or "reduce the amplitude of a wave" I feel that the right way should be "inertial dampeners" which reduce the effect of inertia as opposed to a "damper" which would make the crew wet 😀

Great discussion once again. I'm also in the camp that is creeped out by the whole Kes romance thing, not just because of any implications within the context of the show, but also that she was so young as an actress with much older male actors. I'm not making any specific implications regarding the writers involved throughout this series, but Hollywood in general has a bad track record with minors and young women so it's extra skeevy to me and I'm sure many others. Moonglade, K, and Cass had a discussion I totally agree with about 15 comments up, highlighting the in-character issues of both Kes and Seven's romances when they are so much more innocent and naive than their suitors. All that aside, Frakes did an excellent job directing and I'm glad he has fond memories working with "The Voyager" cast for the first time. On to the fan reviews. Once again the first one is not from "James", but instead from Jamahl Epsicokhan from Jammer's Reviews. He gave the episode 4/4 stars and I agree. The second review was supposedly from "Karen" but is actually a comment reply from someone named Charlie on Jammer's site. Definitely agree that Schultz and Picardo had excellent chemistry and carried the episode nicely. Like Robbie, I disagree with the last review and preferred the exposition at the end so we can enjoy the mystery along the way. I think you guys are doing great work on the podcast, but not giving credit to Jammer's site and getting the names wrong (this is the 3rd or 4th time I've noticed this so far) is making me scratch my head at best, and leaving a bad taste in my mouth at worst. What gives? If you Google "star trek voyager reviews" his site is the 3rd hit that comes up so not hard to find, and not hard to give the man some credit.
