We've had a long summer and an unintentional break from recording new material.

But all long summers have to come to an end and we can't wait to get recording brand new material, fresh tunes, inviting more musicians and creating new videos for all of you.

Our behind the scenes content will continue!

Would you like to see more about:

- information about the tunes
- our tech setup
- the mix/audio production process
- how we make our coffee

Or anything else you are interested in seeing and finding more about from begind our scenes?

Let us know!

Hi both - love what you do - as a fiddle player what I'd like to see is the decoration written on the notation - appreciate it's a personal choice but it would really help a learner like myself to add interest to a tune and where to place emphasis. Thanks Stephen

The Good Tune

Hi Stephen, yes you're right it can be helpful to have some direction when it comes to adding ornaments and decoration the the tunes, which is such an integral part of the various styles. As this isn't purely a fiddle focused channel, rather a learning resource for all instruments and abilities, we would like to keep it open and neutral that way. It's also part of our ethos to offer the raw melody and chords as a useful way for musicians to learn the tunes, to then interpret them in their own way - one of the qualities of folk music (or just music in general!). Saying that, if there are any places where we really feel the ornaments and extra decoration play a significant part in the tune, then we will absolutely add them to the sheet music and backing tracks. Sometimes we like to add suggested bowing too, if applicable. Fiddle features are also an added extra from time to time on our behind the scenes videos, especially if they play an important role in the stylistically in the music. Hope that makes sense and happy playing! For more fiddle focused learning, including fiddle ornaments, bowing and style, Kevin's own patreon is offering fiddle tutorials - www.patreon.com/kevinlees

No problem - that makes sense. S
