Quick update 16 Nov. 2023 & informal poll (Patreon)
Content
Just wanted to drop a line about progress. I am continuing to work steadily as I can. Next week is a holiday week and I finished a big pending project in my "day job," so I should be able to put in a significant amount of work next week. I am still holding out hopes that I will be ready to release the first version next weekend.
Quick informal poll. Please let me know your opinions in the comments:
What I have ready right now includes a very large series of scenes (almost a week of in-game time) that was a lot of work to implement --- but I feel that the build-up to get to that sequence is still a bit underdeveloped. In order to produce a playable demo as soon as possible so that I have player feedback to help balance the development, I would like to just release it "as is." This means that the next few updates will require starting over in order to see the events in the "right" order, with the proper build-up. I am especially eager to get player feedback because, as a single-person development "team" on this game, I am a bit worried that I lack external perspective.
What do you all think? Are you ok with an incomplete release, understanding that future updates may require starting over in order to play new content?
Quick edit for clarification: The game will be playable (and hopefully enjoyable) on the first release. The next few releases will focus on events prior to a big series of events that will be in the first release. The ultimate goal is to create a logical storyline with multiple possible "paths" and outcomes, that makes perfect sense in any single play-through.
