The Summer I Turned... German?

Maxton Hall looks similar to lots of other shows we've watched, with plenty of hot people wanting to kiss, lavish galas, and even a mean dad, but there's one major difference... it's not in English! And we won't be watching with any assistance. Subtitles be damned, we're raw-dogging this thing!

I've had this idea for a while to watch something in a different language without any subtitles or dubbing and try to figure out what the hell is going on. Will we be totally off?? Or mostly get it right? And when are we finally getting back to that party scene?!

Alan had know idea what we were about to attempt but I couldn't think of anyone else more suited for this experiment. Join us, won't you? Guten Tag! Social media!

I definitely think this is a fun concept and it works surprisingly well, you obviously watch a Lot of tv/movies so you can piece things together easier than the average watcher probably could which i think really helps add to the fun of it, obviously only one ep in here but i think this is a very fun concept that would be fun to do every so often esp with silly little drama shows but i also think like scifi or horror could be good for this as well or just plain mysteries but i definitely love the vibes of this and i think the penultimate episode subtitles idea is fun, especially because it'll either confirm ideas you have along the way or you'll learn its a completely different show than you thought which is just as entertaining, alan is definitely a perfect guest for this but i can also see jake and mike and miles being very fun guests anyone who can make confusion entertaining is good for this but also anyone who can like. Just kinda pull shit out of nowhere to work out what could be going on yknow

Oh my gosh I’m so excited for this. This is like the most fan fiction show ever so I can’t wait to see your reaction. You’re either going to fall in love with this show, or it’s going to be the most painful 6 hours of your life. Enjoy!

I too only read the glass elevator as a kid. I wonder if Eric’s reason was also because his school library only had the second book and he figured he’d seen the movie enough times to compensate.

I accidentally watched the first half of this in german with german audio descriptions on. the whole time i thought it was a voiceover from a random lady but was getting so frustrated that there were no subtitles for whatever she was saying. so basically i was watching the show in german with english subtitles while a random german lady spoke over everything plus you two trying to understand wtf was going on lmao. true nightmare anywaysss excited to watch the rest NORMALLY and yes this is my election night distraction thxxx
