PMI: The Movie

I caught wind of some of the cast of this new Netflix movie Uglies and it's essentially The Avengers for the PMI Cinematic Universe. I am joined by my fellow Ugly, Jared, to find out just how many actors we might recognize as we suffer through this random ass YA adaptation.

1. I genuinely SCREAMED seeing John B and Diego. What a small world 2. I know Netflix films a lot here in Atlanta but I was still shocked that they chose to film at a specific area in the Botanical Gardens and tried to make me believe that it was "Pleasure Gardens". 3. The scenes with the "abandoned" scraps of brick buildings looks suspiciously like the place that they filmed Hunger Games also, you guessed it, here in Georgia

I have the whole book series in my classroom (I have not personally read any of them) but maybe this horrible movie will get my students excited about reading? The Giver is my favorite book and that movie ruined me.

Great commentary! I read the books when they came out in 2005 and heard for years they were going to make a movie but nothing came of it until now almost 20 years later! The movie is a bit different than the book and was seemingly rushed story-wise. The most different thing is making Peris a special and making him a more prominent character since he is not in the first book much. I hope they do another movie because it would be fun to see even if it is bad.

i literally didnt watch the movie or read the book but i think the idea was that part of the dystopia of it is that they considered like conventionally attractive people ugly because they only saw like the unnatural plastic surgery look as pretty, i think i remember someone saying that abt the book a while ago but clearly the movie didnt make that obvious enough
