Hi, G. About to go to Montreal to visit family. As a Florida girl, I am woefully under-prepared; I have maybe 3 cold-weather garments to my name. So I expect to die of frost-bite. Just got back from taking 25 adolescents (11-14) to Quebec for a few days so they could see French in use in the real world. Learned a lot about the First Nations peoples of the area, got to hug Bonhomme (the Winter Carnival mascot), and went down an ice slide at this year's Ice Hotel. Also learned to make maple butter (spoiler: no dairy is involved). 😄🍁❄☃️😃 How's you?

Hey Gael and everybody! I'm doing good, in the midst of all the snow here lol. I have a pretty weird but funny story from last week. So I'm trying to get a new place and I was invited to look at an apartment. I go there, and the place was pretty good, the rent was relatively cheap, especially in the area. So I'm looking around and I look out the window at the neighborhood, and it looks like a decent area, albeit a bit sketchy. So I ask the landlord, "How's the neighborhood?" This guy looks at me and says, "Can you fight?" 😐 Needless to say, that was the mother of all red flags.

It's my niece's 21st birthday party tomorrow, so doing final party prep and now off to the supermarket to buy pack lunch supplies, so I can take my own food to the party, but on a plus my sister is making me a vegan chesse pie for tomorrow night!! Been experimenting baking sans oven with the kids this week. (My 6 burner stove doesnt fit in the oven space at my new digs so im having witing done for a new spot in the kitchen) As a semi professional baker its been interesting to see the results have been almost identical. This was my 6yr olds first solo baking experience so im super duper proud of him and his delish chocolate cake!! We also did a skillet apple crumble/crisp as well. Just cooked the filling then toasted the crumble topping in a separate pan n sprinkled it on top of the filling a couple minutes before it was done. Also having a tonne of fun today working on class content for daddy pregnancy labour n birth support group. Who knew how helpful surfing terminology is in describing women and their changing emotions 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ive found it soooooooo accurate!! Anyhoo sending you lots of love n hugs as you help the fam through this tough time ❤

Woke up at the usual 545AM to let the dog out and start the day. It was thunder and lightning, pouring rain.....I opened up the door to let her out. Not much craic going on lately... But two weeks ago, I was in Slovakia for a concert which was pretty cool 😊 And afterwards, we went to McDonald's which was just around the corner (or so we thought).We didn't think much about the tourbus being parked in front of it, but then it turned out, the club ans McDonald's were not only basically the same building but that the backentrance of the club was actually INSIDE McDonald's 😂 Like, right next to the counter! we watched the crew carry the entire equipment through McDonald's and load the the bus 😂 that was so bizarre and funny 😂

Good morning! Not much going on today, thankfully. Hardest part lately is dealing with Mother Nature. Last week it was 70. Yesterday there was snow on the ground 🤦🏻‍♀️Girl can’t make up her mind what season it is 🤷🏻‍♀️ This past weekend I attended an 80’s dance party with some friends. We all dressed up in our best (worst?) from the decade. It was like, totally fun! 😉 Saturday I have a dance class. We’re doing a short ceilidh at a fairytale festival this spring.

I've made two amazing encounters over the last three weeks. The first one happened when I was heading to the supermarket to buy a new washing machine. A man asked me for a cigarette and I sensed I had to stop and talk with him for a bit. It was freezing cold and he didn't have a coat on. He was also horribly skinny. After a few minutes I asked if he wanted us to go to the shop so I could buy him something to eat. I bought us fruit, bread and water, and we went to a nearby park so we could eat in peace. We spent the whole afternoon together. His life was such a mess and he was so isolated that he just needed to talk to someone. I'm glad he trusted me, an absolute stranger to him, to share all those things about himself. We hugged as we parted ways in the subway. I completely forgot to go and buy my washing machine that day! The second encounter happened last week. I'm currently helped by an association dedicated to women who are victims of domestic violence. For the first time in two years, I agreed to participate in a workshop with other women. This one was about nutrition and it was quite interesting. A young man joined us and introduced himself as journalism student. His current project is an enquiry about domestic violence in my area. He was very respectful and discreet, and asked us a few questions while taking notes. We kind of bounded, maybe because we were the youngest ones in the room, or maybe because we also were the only queer people there (I swear we have a radar to find our own lol). We stayed together after the end of the workshop and chatted for a bit. He asked if he could interview me for his project and I accepted. The next day, we met in a bar and had a lovely afternoon in spite of talking about past trauma. I think I've made a new friend :) I'm happy I'm able to open up more and meet new people, especially men, without being terrified of them. It also feels good not to be constantly alert, like waiting for bad things to happen, when I'm outside.

Oh I’ve got a story, a couple of years ago I was listening to one of your audios on the way to class. I had to take a day off work for a dentist appointment. I'm so annoyed right because I think I've had this tooth problem for years but no one ever does something about it. Until today. Oh but on the lighter side of things I'm finally starting a tafe course doing business which is what I've wanted to do since i finished high school. Go figure took me 4 years to actually figure out what the hell I wanted to do. I want a gate for my cubicle. Had to fend off coworkers with a stick today after the announcement went out that I am finally formally hired after 8mos temping. EVERYONE wanted to say congrats. There were fifteen separate visitors. I counted. My face hurts from smiling! Still have to brave a congratulatory brunch on Tuesday, but I can always hide behind a coffee there. And at some point, there will be wine and whiskey, in accordance with the prophecy. In other news, the smaller (and dumber) of my two cats has invented a new game. It involves grabbing the lip of a plastic tote and overturning the thing on herself to create a sort of inescapable igloo. She does not appear to have any sort of plan for this, other than waiting for me to lift up the bin and release her. While Penny is very adorable, she is not terribly bright. Today I had an aunt and an uncle in surgery for cancer. She has Breast cancer and he has cancer around his mouth. They both got it removed and we were told they are doing well. Praise God for that! Its been a rough few weeks for the family.

Missed out on the storm yesterday!!! YAY!! Sunday will be dicey...supposed to get a very high wind storm. 35-40 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 60 mph. We go on a winter weather watch early Sunday am until 1 am Monday. Time to batten down the hatches. Also includes the possibility of white out conditions with up to 3" of snow. I am O- but they won't let me give blood bc I have an irregular heart beat. *sigh* I'm told that blood type is highly needed.

My sister is getting married in 2 weeks and I'm her bridesmaid!! I'm traveling overseas on my own for the first time this year!! I splurged on retail therapy and got my first two pairs of lingerie and I feel really good in them. My mental health has been a butt lately but there is a lot to be excited about!

The grade 3 students developed some reward certificates for the teachers. They gave me an award for 2nd best teacher. I havent found who got 1st but I found 3rd and 4th. Kids are so cute.
