The following might need to be taken with a grain of salt because 1) I don’t know anything about GoT, and 2) only Gael fully knows what his goals he has with each audio. I’m sure loads of people are going to love this audio. And if it was mainly a nod to the new season of GoT and a chance to have fun speaking Dothraki, then I’d say this was a job well done. But otherwise the audio didn’t quite do the trick for me. Now, there were certainly aspects of it that I liked. I always enjoy Gael tackling a new language, and this was no exception. You know how if an actor/actress has a pre-existing accent, you’ll sometimes try to listen if you can hear any trace of it when they’re performing a role? I did that with this audio, and I didn’t hear a hint of Irish in it. So hats off the Gael for that, because goodness knows that I’d never be able to do that myself 🤓👍 Another thing I liked is that the idea behind this audio was <i>different</i>. Even if it was based on a show that I don’t actually watch, it was still something that Gael had never done before, which is always cool to hear. So I appreciate the novelty of it. With that said, though, I felt like this audio had a lot of untapped potential. I know it would’ve been damned near impossible to write really long, detailed chunks of dialogue in a fictional language, so there’s only so much I could’ve expected Gael to say. And I wasn’t even sure if the Dothraki spoke any English at all during the show, or if they were stoic people of few words in general. But then I heard him speak in English at the end of audio, and gosh, do I wish he had incorporated more English throughout the audio. The audio’s description paints the Khal as a fearsome, powerful ruler who’s burning with victory and primal lust. But to me, the dialogue in Dothraki didn’t seem to convey too much of that. Which is fair because it’s a fictional language and likely not comprehensive, but if the Dothraki can speak English, perhaps English could’ve been used to fill the gaps. Like if the Khal has talked more about his sheer desire, or perhaps his dominance in general. To be fair, I thought the growls did convey some of those things, but it felt like more could have potentially been done to set that tone. It’s possible that Gael didn’t intend for this to be a dialogue-heavy audio to begin with, which is completely legit. But in that case, it would require other aspects of the audio (e.g., sound effects, background music, and his own vocalizations) to almost pull double duty in terms of bringing the fantasy to life for the listener. I thought Gael made great use of the background music and drums to give the GoT wartime vibe. But I think the audio might’ve benefited from having more sound effects. Like the sound of pinning the listener’s arms down on the bed, or ripping off her clothes, or maybe more spanking in order to show more of the Khal’s "Alpha" side. As far as vocalizations (e.g., moans, kisses, etc.) go, parts of the audio felt a little off balance. There’s almost a solid two minutes of the Khal eating out the listener’s character, and with only Gael’s personal "sound effects" conveying that, it felt like a disproportionately <i>long</i> two minutes. Which is awesome for listeners who really enjoy the "eating out" noises, but it almost seemed a bit unnatural for there to be no dialogue whatsoever. I’m guessing there are no Dothraki words for <i>"I love tonguefucking you!"</i>, but since the Dothraki can apparently speak English, even a few character-appropriate words could help paint a picture of what was happening. (<i>"Anha tikh lekhi yeri khado"</i> is a great start, and most of us can probably recognize the signature noises Gael makes in order to portray oral in his audios. But if Erotic Dothraki happens to be the very first erotic Gaelforce audio someone listens to, they might be pretty confused about what’s actually happening in the scene.) The blowjob bit was also another part of the audio that I thought suffered a bit from a lack of dialogue. Again, one can guess that the listener’s character is returning the favour based on <i>"Akka yer tikh lekhi anni."</i> But moans can be pretty non-specific, and I think it would be challenging for anyone to wordlessly convey that someone’s going down on them <i>without</i> having the benefit of visual media (i.e., you can actually see the characters on GoT doing the nasty). For all I know the Dothraki could be a <i>less talk, more action!</i> sort of race, but what works well on screen might not translate quite the same way in an audio. The afterglow part at the end was sweet, but to me it felt like it almost came out of nowhere. As in, beyond presumably fucking us senseless, the Khal didn’t quite give the impression that he was totally enamoured with us. However, this is probably due to me knowing essentially nothing about GoT rather than an oversight in the audio. I’m assuming that there’s loads of backstory between Khal Drogo and Daenerys, and they’re probably very much in love and whatnot, so GoT fans would understand the sudden jump from <i>"Let’s victory fuck!"</i> to <i>"I will love and protect you forever!"</i> 😜 Anyhow, part of me feels like a giant douche-y philistine for writing this because maybe I’ve just missed the entire point of the audio 😕 Maybe this was solely supposed to be a GoT-themed ASMR audio, with the music and Dothraki being the GoT part, and the moaning and kisses being the ASMR-y part. And since I don’t actually watch GoT or experience ASMR, I might’ve just grabbed the wrong end of the stick all around 🤔 (If this is Honesty Hour, I’ll admit that I often feel silly for putting on my beta listener thinking cap and writing these long ass comments. I mean, the audios themselves have already been finished and released to the public, always to positive reviews. But if it’s helpful in anyway, then cool. If not, just ignore my meddling 🤐)
