Hi hi patrons!

For a long while I have wanted to make this series… digital sketchbook posts! I am trying to get more comfortable in sharing pieces that work out well, those that don’t turn out well, the finished, and the unfinished pieces.

This honestly feels odd and new to share because growing up I always kept a section in my journal/sketchbook that was just for me because the drawings weren’t as polished or I didn’t have confidence in them.

I am reminding myself that the mistakes and experimental stages are a part of my growth as an illustrator 🪴

So here are the drawings I worked on this past week! Not every week I will have this many pieces to show or any cause I don’t normally draw every week (keeping that rest and work balance!) But when I have new sketches or progress pieces, I will share them in this space 💛

Hope it’s fun to look through these! Each photo in the carousel have captions/commentary to explain a bit about what you’re looking at and my inspiration (o:

Files

ducks (in general most birbs) are my favorite animals! and honestly i don’t draw them enough. drew geese friends 💛 -initial color palette
snacks sticker sheet is done!! drew these based on requests on my insta stories! pt 2 is coming because i couldn’t fit a lot of the drawings
ducks (in general most birbs) are my favorite animals! and honestly i don’t draw them enough. drew geese friends 💛 -initial color palette
final result & added a goose! new style played around with. using color pencil and marker brushes! changed the color palette to be more warm
unfinished piece, started drawing it and lost motivation to keep going b/c i kept getting stumped choosing colors haha
part 1 used marker brush to freehand a toast! the marker gives a realistic look kinda. color palette here was kept until the end too
part 2 usually i don’t sketch out a piece and go right in with colors, but i wanted to include some of the rough sketches in the final piece
part 3 add texture & decided to make the veggies match the style of the characters. the style in pt2 wasn’t as cohesive but was cool to try!
doodles for fun! i thought about what sewing tools would look like in the forest (i.e. vine thread) 🧵🌿
my favorite sea creatures in aquariums are garden eels! went to the aquarium recently and the trip inspired me 🪸

This is the CUTEST post ever 😍 some of the best snacks all on one cute spread, the cute little garden eels, the creativity of the forest sewing tools, the color/aesthetic of the geese friends, the funny and cute float sketch with the ice cream float and pool float (I hope it was meant to be a fun “pun” sketch 😆) and my FAVORITE, the picnic scene on the toast. I want this on a shirt or tote 🥰
