Okay, so I've gotten a lot of... questions/comments/complaints/requests and other things over the past few weeks about all sorts of potential projects.  Some people asked for a discord server, some wanted to know about commissions, I had a few people who wanted me to prioritize quests, NSFW material, etc...

Here's my answer to everyone who's poked me about stuff!

I'm going to be expanding things to include a $5.00 tier here and on Subscribe Star, both on my own initiative and after some advice from other people.  So in addition to the Favoritism poll this month, I'm opening up a poll for everyone (even my $1.00 friends) to give me input on what they would want to see in a $5.00 tier in the future.  Fair warning, I'm not super thrilled about becoming a discord moderator (I've heard the horror stories), but needs must when the devil drives.

Depending on what wins, I'll implement the TOP TWO over the next month or so.  Multi-vote is on, so pick however many tickle your fancy.

NONE OF THIS CHANGES BENEFITS ON THE $3.00 OR $1.00 TIERS.  YOU'RE NOT LOSING ANYTHING, DON'T FREAK OUT.

*As something of a default, $5.00 Patrons would get an extra vote on the favoritism polls.  This doesn't cost me much to implement and it's a perk of throwing more money at me to get a bigger voice in what I do.

*Discord Server - Exactly what it says on the tin.  It'd be classed as a NSFW server due to several of my stories either being completely NSFW or having lewd components to them.

*More NSFW Content - Speaking of which... I have noticed a decline in this sector of my writing.  Mainly because people are voting for the more tech-heavy Inspired Inventor stuff, but I could generate some lewd content for a higher tier if people were into that sort of thing.

*One-Shots - There are a bunch of ideas I scribble down that really aren't worth a full story.  I could throw some of those up for you guys if you wanted.  Exploratory pieces, odd-ball ideas, random stuff.  I'd have a poll on seeing which ones people liked and could expand them a little into two or three-shots.

*Quests! - Quests just don't translate super-well to a patreon format and I've been looking for a good way to implement them.  One idea I had was giving a higher tier allowance to vote on forcing me to do more quest updates than just Semper's once a month thing.  This could also include input on any new quests I might or might not start.

*Commissioned Story Prompts - This isn't a full acceptance of commissioned projects like a few people wanted, but it's a middle-ground that I can find time for.  I also imagine it's cheaper.  Basically, people would throw me ideas and I'd cherry-pick ones that I both know the content for (I don't know Jojo for instance, I just can't write it) AND think could be interesting or compelling to write about.  The difference between this and One-Shots above is that patrons would ask me to do things rather than me just exploring the notebooks of ideas I have lying around.

*JUST WRITE MORE YOU LAZY BASTARD AND I'LL GIVE YOU MORE MONEY! - This is for those people who just want more content and don't care about anything else.  Those who have no opinion.  You know who you are.  You know what you've done.

Stop starting new stories before you finish what you are working on.

I'll take this under advisement, but as you've probably noticed, it's a constant problem for forum writers.

Hey don’t go blaming it on using forums. I have seen authors that just use FF that have 50+ stories with only a few chapters each. It’s fine to have a snipers thread to put any ideas that are bugging you to be written. But when you constantly add new stories to your regular rotation you end up neglecting some stories. You need to find your own balance. Maybe have 1-3 main stories and then 1-2 free slots you rotate what ever you want into.

Slayer Anderson

That's functionally what's already happened. These days I write mainly Industrious with a chapter or two of The New Ron and Winning Peace looks to be taking the third 'main' slot with everything else being put on the back-burner. As a postscript, neither here nor there, most people don't know it, but FF.net has been a forum for going on a decade now. Most people just don't use that side of it.

I came here primarily for industrious but I have read speed run since and enjoyed that as well. As long as industrious keeps going idk what else happens on the side to keep your creative justices flowing.

What you have going on is fine, it’s just a reminder I like giving after seeing this happen way too much.

For what its worth, I really like the idea of a discord. I think it will be lower effort then you think at first, and if it grows in scope that just means this patreon has grown correspondingly and you will no doubt have a pool of responsible people to handle mod shit as volunteers.

Asking your established audience what to do quite often leads to them asking for more of the same. Which makes sense, because of why they're here in the first place. If you genuinely think you have a good idea, just give it a shot for a while. You never know what might stick.

C&C

Just writing more untill then honestly ain't a bad idea. It fits well with patreon, and it's something you can do immediatly. Adding a discord is also something that's good to look into for the future. Personally i'd like to see you do a quest on fiction.live (better platform for quests, and would bring new eyes). It'd be somewhat of a timesink, but would be great fun.

While I'm only here for the Code Geass Quest, and it would be really great in my opinion if there would be more than one update in a month, several of the other option also sound potentional interestig. Would depend on the Fandom, because at the moment I'm not to interested in any of the Fandom of any of your stories, except the Code Geass quest. So if it could be more Code Geass content, whether for the Quest, One-shot or as a story, I would probably change to the new tier Also would the last option count for everything you are currently writing or is it simply a joke option?

There’s some older stories of his that I wish he hadn’t pivoted away from, and I’d love to see continue, but the number of people who are willing to pay to make that happen is a lot lower than the number of people willing to pay to keep the current stories coming, so… that’s the smart thing to do. Pivoting several times is kinda what got him his current patreon audience, so I understand and encourage him both maintaining the current support and also looking for an even larger/more profitable fandom to, y’know, get paid to write for, as patreon content creators do.

You make a good point. I think having a set amount of time for your more popular stories and then using the other time to rotate or test new stories is probably the best way to do that.
