The Wire is finally coming to the scene and I'm excited to get into this narrative. I'm genuinely already immersed within this world and it's characters and can't wait for the journey that's about to unfold. The writing, filmmaking, compositions etc, all remind me of what makes a GREAT show stand out from just a good one. Let's get it!

Just letting you know that in your Youtube titles, you mislabeled episode 6 as episode 5.

I guess episode 6 does explain it on its own, but Rawls (Jimmy's boss) isn't necessarily in 'cahoots' with anybody in a corrupt way - the police hierarchy is just that toxic on its own. Chase the stats, big showy buy busts over slow-burning investigation... that's the show, baby!

Jonathan

The white police detective, Norris, investigating Brandon’s murder at the beginning of episode 6 was the real life Baltimore Police Commissioner who green lit support from the city in filming The Wire. During pre prediction he was “promoted” to a less visible position because he wasn’t playing politics. He later went to jail for a corruption case dug up similarly to what they were trying to do to McNulty at the end of the episode.

Pretty sure the "bug" that Bubble's friend says he has is slang for the HIV Virus.

Also, you seem to be under the impression that Lance's Reddick's character works for Rawls. That's not quite true, Rawls is a higher rank but they work in different departments. Reddick (Narcotics) and Rawls (Homicide). Not a big deal, but you made a comment in the outro something to effect of Reddick standing up to his "boss". That's not quite the dynamic those two characters have. Though that IS what's going on with McNulty and Rawls.

Don't know where else to say this in the community. RIP James Earl Jones.

If your interested, Jamelle Hill and Van Lathan did a retrospective podcast on The wire called Way Down in the Hole for the Ringer. It's fantastic and goes episode by episode following and dissecting the episodes. Highly recommend. Thanks for these reactions, I'm having a blast rewatching my favorite show.

The show is fact based. The Corner aired as a sort of a prequel by Charles S Dutton (Not an actual ppl timeline, more set up for the neighborhood). Some of the locals turned actors r n both shows. They're also n scenes playing opposite the ppl playing thm. I wish ppl watched The Corner 1st bc I b so happy for new Wire fam mbrs lol. Evn not watchn live & experiencing how they made such an effort to personally connect w viewers off air... as new comers ppl still can get a different lvl connection knowing the background. Fyi its already on yt bc HBO took too long to jump on the streaming wagon so they had to archive some of their shows to complete. By thn it was already ripped. Thats what their racist azzez get for doin the ppl portrayed & us dirty. Hopefully you'll catch up🤗 Oh & there're subsequent docs of the ppl portrayed as well as updates all the way post COVID. WELCOME‼️ #TheWireFam4Life💯💜

Doesn't seem like ur following the show like u do camera stuff. Avon entering the pit for the 1st time is a big deal & u thought it was an empty use of slowed footage. U do miss a lot when u talk ovr dialog
