Hi Evie, ughh… the scenes with Jesse trying to revive Jane and then crying in Walt’s arms just breaks my heart. I absolutely adore Aaron Paul’s performance as Jesse. It was interesting because they would definitely call Saul in this situation with Jane’s death, but the actor who plays Saul was unavailable working on another show because he was a guest star, so they ended up creating the character that shows up at Jesse’s to clean up because they figured Saul wouldn’t go himself, he knows a guy who knows a guy. We learn more about this “fixer.” He is actually one of my favorite characters. Yes, Jane’s dad is an Air Traffic Controller, so you really need to focused and he clearly was not. Which is why they gave him time to grieve, but he didn’t take it. So if we look back, Walt allowed Jane to die which broke Jesse’s heart as well as Jane’s dad, who made the horrible decision to come to work, got distracted and caused two airplanes to collide and a number of deaths with debris from the collision falling into Walter’s yard. Talk about karma. Oh and you noticed the drug cartel guy from the chicken restaurant Gustavo “Gus" Fring. He’s a character who hides in plain sight, so of course he donates money to that charity. And Timo beat me to telling you about the episode titles “Seven Thirty Seven” - “Down” - “Over” - “ABQ”

Hi Evie, As you continue watching, I'd like you to pay more attention to the characters clothing and colors of background objects. Colors are very relevant in Breaking Bad. Certain characters will wear colors that represent different things and I wanted to give you a guide. It's also interesting to see when they mix colors and what that might mean and to see the colors change as the characters change throughout the seasons and when new characters are introduced. BLUE Symbolism: Loyalty, power, sadness, purity, water, sky, coldness, escape Blue is a primary color on the RYB color wheel Obviously represents Skyler (blue SKYler) as well as the color of the meth Heisenberg cooks. As the show progresses, the color definitely begins to represent the meth more than Skyler as the meth becomes important to Walt. PURPLE Symbolism: Luxury, royalty, protection, safety, not involved with the meth trade (purple is the polar opposite of yellow), and most importantly, self-deception. Vince Gilligan in an interview with Vulture said, “Well, Marie would say purple is the color of royalty." Secondary color: Formed by red + blue Marie's color, but also represents deception. Many characters wearing this color are using some form of deception. Also, Marie's entire life is a deception - on the outside, she seems to have it together, but she's a kleptomaniac. Also, she's lied to the most by Walt and Skylar due to her being so nosy. RED Symbolism: Blood, murder, aggression, violence, experience, criminality. Death Red is a primary color on the RYB color wheel. Jesse's color (last name PINKman because he really doesn't become powerful until he works with Mr. White - red, white = pink.) As Jesse starts to get deeper the meth business, his color turns more yellow. PINK Symbolism: Naiveté, youth, tragedy, innocence, Death Composite color: Red + white Jesse PINKman. The pink teddy in the pool from the doomed airplane, and even Walt's newborn daughter wearing pink. ORANGE Symbolism: Humor, action, fire, violence, warning Secondary color: Formed by red + yellow Orange clothing will be worn by characters or orange objects as a warning or danger. Hank wears a lot of orange. YELLOW Symbolism: Methamphetamine, optimism, pleasure, caution, cowardice, fear, pseudo-toughness, the pain and suffering that results from meth and the false hopes and careless pleasures it engenders, as well as the unhappiness of suspicion and paranoia. Yellow is a primary color on the RYB color wheel. Is most often associated directly with the meth cooking, selling and laundering operation. Yellow also signifies caution, which is taken more and more as Walt becomes more experienced in the meth business. When Walt and Jesse move into Gus’ underground super lab, they don yellow protective jump suits, demonstrating the meticulousness and care they take in every step they make. GREEN Symbolism: Greed, money, growth, envy Secondary color: Formed by blue + yellow The color of money. Whenever someone is wearing green, they are driven by money. When Walt sells his green vehicle for a mere $50 and keeps his black Heisenberg hat, it symbolizes that he's now in the meth business for reasons other than money. BLACK Symbolism: Death, darkness, evil, power, secrecy, deception, corruption Black is formed by the absence or absorption of all colors of visible light. In the painter's wheel, it is formed by mixing equal parts blue, red, and yellow. The color of power and greed. Gretchen Swartz (which means "black" in German) represents everything that Walt desires. The street that Walter's family lives on is called Negra Arroyo Lane, which translates to "Black Creek Lane." Jane always wears black WHITE Symbolism: Innocence, light, non-violence, new beginning White is formed by the reflection or transmission of all colors of visible light. On a painter's canvas, white is the absence of color. Walt's last name WHITE. White traditionally serves as a color of purity. Often, when characters are seen wearing white their intents are pure, even though they don’t necessarily hold the “high ground.” When Walter first started creating meth, he would strip down to his white underwear BEIGE Symbolism: Bland, a little bit dirty, rich, neutral, not a threat Composite color: Formed by white + some yellow + possibly some red Most of the guests are wearing beige at Elliot Schwartz's birthday MULTICOLOR COMBINATIONS Symbolism: Conflicted emotions, mixed feelings, confusion, multiple meanings Walt Jr. often wears striped shirts with multiple colors. To match his vibrant personality. In the pilot episode, Walt is wearing white underpants and a green apron. When Tuco first tries Blue Sky, he says to Walter and Jesse, "Blue, yellow, pink. Whatever, man, just keep bringing me that." The colors of Jesse's duplex are yellow and red. The stripes on the Walt and Jesse's RV are yellow, orange, and red.
