Farewell my paradise

Samer Khalid

Man this show is fantastic. I mean you've reacted to so many great shows on this channel, but one thing I will say about Haikyuu is that it probably has the best cast of characters I've seen so far. The fact that there are SO MANY of them and none of them feel extra, Haikyuu really takes full advantage of using sport as way to tell a more widely-applicable story. Everyone can find a character they connect to in Haikyuu, it's such an easy show to recommend partly because of it. I'm not sure if you've seen any news about how the rest of Haikyuu is going to be adapted, but a lot of people have expressed some doubt in the current announcement to have a couple movies that will adapt everything left. Without giving any spoilers, there is a lot of great and rich content left that will undoubtedly be hard to fully capture through the current avenues planned. I hope the anime can continue to give the story justice but I suppose time will tell.

Sacha

Wow. Those three words really just made me cry a bit 😭😭😭

J

NOOOO it's over 😭 Movies please hurry up

Mima

will miss watching this with you! was such a throwback honestly. so much nostalgia and characters i love. hopefully we see them again soon enough!

Sacha

Been a bit busy but I’ve some time soon to watch episodes 24 and 25 together. Even though I desperately want to put it off because I’m not ready for your haikyuu journey to be over!! (for now) also how dare you watch and end two of my three favourite stories of all time back to back. Vinland and now HQ. The timing of this breaks my heart Oh! Don’t know if it’s been mentioned in the comments but we are expecting news of the haikyuu film very soon this month. The title very appropriately being “Haikyuu: The Battle of the Garbage Dump”

I'm so sad we've finished Haikyuu but I'm happy to say that you've seen the entirety so far of my favorite anime. It's easy to see at this point how it's been one of the most inspirational pieces of media for me and gotten me into sports as a whole. Such a good feel good ending to the season. Beyond excited for the Haikyuu movies to come out and conclude the series, though I'm very nervous due to how much content the manga has remaining. P.S. The people meeting you didn't recognize were the neighborhood association and tanaka's sister running into Kenma's sister and Lev's sister.

bondbond53

Oh Alex you dipped your toe into Haikyuu!! doujinshi, that's so funny. That's interesting that what you saw most of was HinataxSuga haha. I would say that the most popular ships on the wide internet are HinataxKageyama, BokutoxAkaashi and very unexpectedly AtsumuxSakusa(the face mask guy from Kageyama's training camp from the school predicted to win nationals). This pair being very popular is a long story haha. On another subject, thank you for enjoying Haikyuu so much and giving us plenty of good talking points. This work is very special for me. It may sound impossible but it only gets better from here.

agoodwintv

It would be a shame to rush the story along... it really shines when given time to breathe. But better than no continuation at all I guess. And maybe the movies will end up being perfect, we'll see

agoodwintv

Amazing to hear. And yeah to be honest I didn't browse long but that was what I saw the most of by far 😅

M2GZ

I know I've recommended this show a bunch already but I still gotta recommend Run with the Wind one last time. Imo its the perfect show to to replace Haikyuu Its short and has a lot of the same themes and character writing.

Vali Sippola

Haikyuu is so amazing. And with how good it’s been already, we haven’t even got close to the best stuff yet. It’s all upwards from here till the conclusion, which is just something special. Just hope their decision to do movie adaptations pans out. At the very least I think they’ll do Karasuno and specifically Hinata justice with the adaptation. But they might pull all of it off, we’ll have to wait and see. The source material is just so incredible that it would be unfortunate if they cut literally anything lmao.

Aanvik

If the movies come out and they’re not great, I hope you give the manga a shot. Someone could even pick out specific chapters that the movies don’t dive into because there’s so much great stuff in there. Unfortunately S4 did not do as well as the other 3 seasons (probably because it was released 4 years after the previous season) so I’m glad at least anime onlys get an ending.

agoodwintv

If it's not released I will definitely read. And I'm also down to read chapters not adapted by the movies

Sunny

Glad you enjoyed it so much! It's one of my favorites by a wide margin and i was so looking forward to the days you dropped your reactions every week

Niko

Its been a real joy to watch you react and give your insights into this show. Im gonna go ahead and do some shameless lobbying once again here recommending both "Run with the wind" and "Ping Pong the animation" to you - both shows im 100% sure you would much appreciate

Tope

I think she’s the Nekoma Tanaka’s sister.

Tope

Wow, what a journey. From the Battle at the Patreon Poll to the Battle at the Garbage Dump. ❤️ I skipped the last arc of the manga because I couldn’t wait to know how the series ends. No spoilers, but I felt it was a very satisfying conclusion to Hinata’s overall story. Excited to see it animated.

M2GZ

Gotta love appreciation for run with the wind :) I hear ping pong is good too might watch that next

Ryan

Yeah it's "Tora" whose sister is the little one saying "You'll eat those words." So, basically it's just the two cheer squads meeting on the street by chance.

Ryan

I shudder to think. But honestly Hinata-Suga was a surprise. I just don't see that working out at all, and also can't see what's appealing about it? I mean, I get that I'm not the target audience, but like... I wouldn't have even thought to put those two together.

Ryan

I really enjoy Grandpa Ukai's comment at the end. I think of teaching and coaching as closely related, but I think it's super important as a coach to realize that we're not trying to get other people to achieve *our* goals. We're trying to help people achieve *their* goals, and that includes figuring out what those goals are. That's another fundamental difference between Ukai's Karasuno and Washijo's Shiratorizawa, and I like that it contrasts with the parallel of Grandpa Ukai's sitting there at the end drinking the same drink that Washijo had at the end of the training camp in S4. In contrast, Ukai (the grandson) came in and did seem to just naturally slide into that role; the only time he had to be told what the goals were was when Suga told him to pick Kageyama as setter if it meant winning more games. Once Suga told him that, Ukai understood the team and his role on it, and dedicated his whole self to that. It's a lesson I need to constantly relearn.

Ryan

Also, apologies for the constant Japanese notes and nerding out over the music, but thank you (and the other patrons) for putting up with it so patiently, haha.

Chris Sharpe

I have watched and read many pieces of anime and manga and my top 4 anime/manga arcs are fairly fluid. Haikyuu Nationals is one of them when it is all said and done, easily. For reference another one is the Rumbling arc in AOT. There is also one coming up in Hunter x Hunter. The last one is a One Piece arc, but that’s irrelevant here. I can’t wait for you to see what is to come. All of the arcs I mentioned are easy 10/10’s.

Chris Sharpe

Honestly, I’m debating wanting to go head first into another anime, or wanting to do the One Piece LA. I know it’s only 8 episodes and I definitely want Goodwin to watch it, but us HxH fans did get what we want, so I kind of want the others who didn’t want it to get what they want right away.

Chris Sharpe

I know I keep hyping up what is to come and it might be annoying, but I will never stop and I regret nothing.

tk

People might have pointed this out already, but the Demon analogies go as far back as season 1 I believe: Nekoma's coach actually referred to Kageyama and Hinata as the Demon (Oni) and his Iron Club. Later, during the training camp in S2, Coach Nekomata made an adjustement to this observation, after seeing the progress Hinata had made: that they both had the potential to become Demons. So, this "Demon" arc extends not just to the start of this season, but throughout all seasons.

M2GZ

Well I didn’t really want hxh if I’m being honest but if he happened to pick up run with the wind I’d be estatic. hxh is kinda long but RWTW only has 23 episodes so I think it could work. I’m mostly recommending it now because what I like about it is so similar to what I like about haikyuu.

Ryan

Sorry. It's an integral part of Canadian culture. It's how we say hello and goodbye. ;)

Ryan

Oh! I forgot. Hinata's voice actor isn't in MHA, but many others are: - Kageyama = Iida - Ennoshita = Kirishima - Tsukishima = Shigaraki Tomura - Asahi = Tokoyami - Nishinoya = Bakugo - Kuroo = Hawks - Kenma = Todoroki Shoto - Iwaizumi = Present Mic and most importantly, Shimizu = Invisible Girl (and Mt. Lady)

Swanlady

Hinata and Suga? Really? I NEVER would have guessed that. 😂

agoodwintv

Ryan, it's been a real pleasure reading your notes on all topics. I think I can speak for everyone when I say it's been really useful, interesting, and greatly appreciated!

agoodwintv

I was thinking of the English VA but I looked that up and it's also wrong haha

Sacha

@Chris Sharpe my top 3 list goes 1.Haikyuu 2.Run with the Wind 3.Vinland Saga Vinland Saga is 3 because it’s not finished yet but once the manga is done it has the potential to be no.2. It all depends on the ending. For now I really can’t see anything dethroning Haikyuu.

Shaily

Atsumu telling Hinata he’ll be setting to him one day is such a huge compliment. Hinata finally got the acknowledgment he had been craving since the start of season 4. I really enjoyed rewatching the show with you, it was such a fantastic experience. Not sure if I’ll be around for some time here or not since there isn’t any show right now which interests me. But will be back for AOT & others. Also, It hurts me a bit when you compare Haikyuu and mha 🫣. It’s not that I don’t like mha but I just feel haikyuu is overall a very well made show which is consistent throughout its run. Deku is also someone who I like, though a major part of fandom don’t like him as a main character. But Hinata is very different from him in so many ways. Lol now am looking like a mha hater but believe me I am not. I just don’t know how to explain it.

Chris Sharpe

@Sacha All of this hype for Run with the Wind makes me more and more excited to start watching it.

Emman Reed

Incredible incredible journey, I enjoyed these reactions sooo much. I can't wait for the movies to come out either. It'll be a while before they finish polishing off the incredible continuation of Haikyuu!! and I am honestly so excited to see the rest of this story adapted. But for now I will continue watching my doses of Goodwin greatness and enjoying the small pockets of happiness I gain from these reactions. Can't wait for the other shows you'll react to and the (Haikyuu!!)movies that are to come :D <3

deeps

for anime i would definitely recommend re:zero and then for non-anime i think bojack horseman! both have very interesting themes that i'd love to see you discuss

Athena

You finishing Haikyuu has made me want to read the manga...and I know it would solidify itself as my favorite sports anime (I haven't watched any other sports anime lol)
