I was commissioned by Whatinsomnia on Bluesky to draw an iteration of his Santa Bull Series, and it was a real challenge! But this works out for all of you because it meant, MORE ART :D

Included is a goofy looking sketch, which was my first proposed drawing for the big bull. But per his direction, I was asked to go even bigger and really push my current skills to the limit. For this I tried using the "thick-line" style that I discovered drawing PIP earlier in the month. And while Whatinsomnia was happy with that version, I wasn't. It just didn't look like "I" had drawn it. So I decided that I was going to do a 3rd attempt where I shaved everything back down to me "thin-line" style and I think the picture looks massively better because of it. I was even able to add some winter flourishes like the Christmas tree and snowman :3

Oh a quick word about the Birds. This is actually a timeless art hack that I've used before! If you every want to make something look big? Just put birds flying around it, and our brains will automatically read it as being bigger!

See I explained this to Whatinsomnia that my art style is limited by my lack of shading or texture, and more now than ever I've been drawing characters with motion in mind, more so than their weight. This also the reason why I've stopped using 3D. -- The sketch was actually done with 3D because I was somewhat panicking at first. But for the redo's, I simply did everything raw—something which turned out supremely well in the end, but had me wracking my brain on how could I make Santa Bull "feel" big, and I believe I pulled it off 🐸👍

I love the shapes involved in this work and the composition. It lends weight and size to the character.
