out of the entire returning cast, Toph definitely got the best material. the scene b/t her and Lin is one of my favorites in Korra. Yea, its so heavy and complex, and there are no easy answers.

Some people think the giant mech is really out of place, but I've never really understood that. From Korra, it's just a scaled up version of the mechs introduced in season 1, and from ATLA, well it's far, far smaller than the giant drill that the fire nation was able to make 75 years ago.

Kuvira and Batar Jr. Is definitely Anakin and Padme on Mustafar. I'm suprised you didn't see the parallels. Also I'm pretty sure I'm Bolin, just can't earth/lavabend haha

Not really. Padme would never turn imperialist just to be with him. she rejected him for his fall. Bataar would throw the entire world in the trash for Kuvira. only her turning on him specifically changed his mind. and Anakin didnt mean to hurt her.

queens gambit is (besides the name of that TV show) a chess move where you sacrifice your queen for the checkmate. maybe it shouldve been Bataars gambit since hes the one who was sacrificed by kuvira for the "checkmate" but its definitely a deliberate reference!

I think Baatar Jr easily leaving his family for Kuvira makes sense. He's the only Bei Fong that isn't given a personality on screen. The twins are athletes, Opal is the epitome of innocence, Huan is a tortured artist, and then there's just Baatar Jr in the background in the shadow of a man he shares a name with. I imagine going with Kuvira gave him a sense of individuality he never felt before.

I think Anakin did mean to hurt Padme. He was angry and felt betrayed. Over the long term, no, he didn't mean to, but in that moment, he did. And yeah, Padme wouldn't have been an Imperial, but running away, casting aside everything just for love to someone who is becoming an Imperialist, that's 100% Padme

It's interesting to see how the nations have changed, in ATLA the Fire Nation was the most technologically powerful and took over the Earth Kingdom, and in TLOK the Earth Kingdom is the most technologically advanced in the world. Kuvira's giant robot with a weapon that could destroy entire mountains made the Earth Kingdom the most powerful nation in the world, and if Kuvira wanted to, she could destroy the entire Fire Nation in revenge. The United Republic of Nations was created so that there would be one neutral country in the world, and all nations would have a duty to defend Republic City.

well not necessarily on that last part because obviously the supermech doesnt end up matching up to team Avatar, they would have protected the firenation in the same way

well no because that would be her convincing him NOT to become an imperialist. As for Bataar, what they have is ALREADY branded an empire, saying you give up on republic city doesnt negate the fascist nature thats already in Kuvira and Bataars rule. Anakin is the one saying they can rule the galaxy together without Palpatine and Padme litterally says no. Bataar wouldnt say no.

I actually really like that they made Toph an imperfect parent or even one can say a bad parent. I feel like they could've very easily have made the Gaang these perfect people in their adult years and I think it's a very realistic choice to have them not be so perfect at least as parents. Aang wasn't a great father cause he favored Tenzin although for understandable reasons but Bumi and Kya were sadly affected by that and Toph wasn't a great mother cause she was never the affectionate type and it affected Lin and Su. Man, I'm actually quite sad to see this coming to an end. Your Avatar related videos have been my favorites among your videos but I'm looking forward to seeing what's next!

Ironically, the AtLA character that seems to have been (as far as we can see) the best parent is the one that had the worst parent imaginable. Fire Lord Izumi seems to have been well prepared for leadership who carried on his ideals, and General Iroh respects his grandfather without question. Toph and Aang were less than ideal. We have substantially less information upon which to base a judgment of the other two characters we know were parents. Katara at the very least either failed to notice or failed to stop Aang's favoritism, but Cabbage Merchant raised a successful business leader.
