Doctor Who 2x1 FULL LENGTH Reaction | New Earth - MAX/BLU-RAY

FULL LENGTH REACTION

They did a good job with the transition to the new Doctor. It helped a lot to have Rose, not just to provide continuity but to act as a stand-in for the audience and to live through all the emotional reactions from shock over wariness to curiosity and excitement.

The Doctor clearly suspected something was wrong with Rose, but it took till he saw her reaction to the flesh to be sure. We use "out of left feild" in the UK too as far as I know. Probably used in Cricket or Rounders too..

I normally don't comment unless I have something new to add to the conversation, but I just have to say, I love your interpretation of the Face of Boe! It really sums him up to a T I think. He's such a lovable character (you'll understand when you understand, and, no spoilers!, but I LITERALLY cannot wait until you do!! It's what I'm patiently {okay maybe not so patient lol} waiting for! 😇) and his name becomes an Easter Egg for die hard fans just like there are soooo many classic who references, so be sure to be on the look out for it. Because now you're one of us! 😁 It will pop up sporadically, sometimes actually said or just in background scenes. Edit: Oh also quick thing, if your counting hands for two episodes a week? 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ Lol no pressure, just if you're counting hands. Do whatever and I will watch cause I love watching your reactions, it always the highlight of my day 😊💙

"I want to touch all the knobs!" Sorry, Dad.

David is a fine and entertaining Doctor, and I fully understand why so many people consider him their favourite; I just like Christopher more. The Face Of Boe sure is oddly charismatic, for a giant floating head, but he is. I think it's the enigmatic thing that he pulls off so well, despite the animatronic being as limited as it is. Regarding the special effects, it's worth keeping in mind that this was filmed when Standard Definition was still the norm - the show doesn't go full HD until the next Doctor, so the effects often look even worse today than they did back then because we're watching on our HDTVs / monitors. As far as potential scheduling changes, I'd personally prefer to see Moya Mondays over Tardis Tuesdays, but that's an admittedly selfish position because I love Farscape, but Who has twice as many episodes so logistically it makes the most sense to double up on that. And on a final note, there's a scene / sequence in the next episode that feels incredibly "out of left field" and the missing context can be found in the BBC channel idents from 2006, which you can look up on YouTube.

Good news! David Tennant is 53. So he COULD have been our teacher. He'd be a fairly new teacher, but a teacher nonetheless!

If you're considering multiple Doctor Who episodes per week at some point, I'd recommend instead do 1 episode of Doctor Who and 1 Torchwood per week. Some of the seasons align and would be a good match for parallel viewing.

John

The show at this point was run by fans who grew up with Doctor Who so they knew what it was like for the audience to change Doctors. They did a great job of allowing the audience and characters to go through a grieving process to be able to get some closure and be ready to accept the new Doctor.
