Sang-hwa was the GOAT. Bro threw hands with the zombies more than any other character

I loved this movie. This movie right here got me interested in Korean horror shows, including the series All of us are Dead and Sweet Home.

Now thats a surprise! I actually never watched this movie even if i wanted to ever since it came out. BTW i know you already doing bunch of series reactions but i'd recommend checking out Erased series on Netflix (imo both the anime and the live action are equally good)

I had to check on Don Lee (Ma Dong-seak) aka Mr. Super South Korea, and his death count in shows, because I was likening him to badass Sean Bean, who has died in 24 fims & TV shows as far as I can tell. I won't go into specific deaths for Don Lee, but he has actor credits for about 63 films/television shows, and has died in approx only 6% of them, whereas Sean Bean is batting an 18% death ratio over 132 actor credits, which is far less than I had been lead to believe. I spent entirely too long looking that all up. :D

Hi, I am Hi.

Great movie. This one got me into Korean movies and tv shows. Koreans do great stuff. You could react to "Parasite", weird shit.

For years people told me I should watch this movie. Watched it earlier this year and it did not disappoint.

The first time I ever watched this, I was craving some zombie action cuz The Walking Dead was between seasons. I got the zombies I wanted, but I was not expecting such a beautiful story. I don't often use the word beautiful to describe movies or TV. But lemme tell you, the first time I saw the Dad smiling as his last thoughts were of his daughter, followed by his silhouette falling off the train as his final act before he turns? God I bawled like a baby. I'm not ashamed to say I cried again watching your reaction. This movie is cinematic gold. It's not overly complex. The plot is easy to follow. It doesn't throw a bunch of scientific technobabble in your face to explain the zombies. At its core, it's not even about the zombies. They're merely a storytelling device, meant as an obstacle for our heroes to overcome. The true story is about that Dad becoming the best damn version of himself he could ever have been. Giving his life for his daughter. The ultimate sacrifice. I'm not a father, but I hope to be someday. And I pray to God and anyone else who'll listen that I can be half the man that Dad was at the end.

Hi, I am Hi.

Mister Super South Korea is the best!

If your new to K- Cinema then I Saw the Devil is on Peacock and Oldboy is on Netflix. They're bleaker than Train to Busan but some of the best thrillers from the region.

Yea, you can say you've seen zombie movies and shows before, but Korean zombies are a completely different breed! The snapping sound their bones make as they stand and move, the way they tend to run with their mouth forward, which makes sense because they want to bite you lol, the fact that they trip and stumble over each other, all these things and more make their zombie shows and movies so much more enjoyable and terrifying!!!

South Korea is having a film renaissance. There are quite a few excellent Korean shows and movies from the past few years. Squid Game is excellent and thematically deeper than expected. It's a short series too. You could realistically get through it in a month with your standard schedule. Another good one I just watched is Moving. It's essentially a Korean version of Heroes (when Heroes was still good).

I always thought a cheap set of ren faire armor would basically make you impervious to zombie attacks

You said subtitles scare you, but really they shouldn't. There's such a huge wolrd out there of absolute masterpieces that open up once you get accustomed to subtitles. I myself am Hungarian, I speak English pretty well and work in English, but I still use subtitles when watching English stuff, bc I just find it easier to remember names, and understand the less common accents (also helps when actors mumble a bit). My face recognition is really bad too, it's not full-on face blindness, but not far from it, so especially live action stuff I really need the subtitles cuz I get lost. I remember as a kid I thought Boromir and Aragorn were the same person for a long time, and also Brad Pit and Orlando Bloom looked like the exact same person to me too which looking back at it sounds weird asf but I just couldn't tell them apart much. There was a comment by the director of Parasite - an absolutely amazing movie that is legit just brilliant in every sense of the word - that was a bit biting admittedly, hope you don't take offense to it, but here it goes: Bong Joon-ho, the South Korean director of "Parasite," subtly criticized prejudiced audiences in his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, saying in Korean (translated by director Sharon Choi) as, "Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films." PS - If I have any recommendations, I would say give Frieren: Beyond Journeys End a try. It's anime, I know you don't watch any on the channel, but it's one of the most brilliant pieces of media I've seen this entire year and if you like Vox Machina and I know you do, so do I, and if you like Lord of the Rings, which I would assume you do, then you will LOVE Frieren.

Honestly the people safest in a zombie apocalypse will be the HEMA and Fencing enthusiasts. Gun nuts can last a bit, but ammo and noise will bite them eventually, but people who practice longsword or saber fencing and maybe either protective sparring gear or legit plate armor at home, they'll be set for the long haul. Bonus points if they have a shield at home.

David Bodor

Honestly he legit looks like Captain America when he has the shield and baton, beating down zombies while running next to the train. So badass. Captain South Korea!

Garrick Smalley

I have seen this movie in edited (other reactors) form about 7 times now I always cry. It is phenomenal!

Jaita Nolting

Reading subtitles and watching a show is definitely a learned skill but practice makes perfect and Train to Busan is a great movie to get you addicted to SK media. Love all of your reactions! I think you would love the kdrama Tomorrow if you ever wanted to watch a whole show

Shaun Swieringa

Honestly you may not feel like you're reacting as much with focusing on subtitles like you said towards the end but it isn't the case. Facial expressions to the scene and what you just read is just as awesome proven by this reaction being great as always. I mostly wanted to say that because Squid Game is absolutely incredible and if I didn't already, would have gotten the Patreon for that one. Thanks for the reaction!

Andrew Skow

Please forgive my ignorance, but, how do I locate the full-length reaction?

Bea Lohman

I'm so glad you finally watched this film! I hope you branch out to more Korean media-- I highly, HIGHLY recommend the series "Crash Landing On You" on Netflix. It's about a South Korean woman who experiences a freak accident and accidentally enters North Korea, where she is taken under the wing of a North Korean military captain in a border village as they try to figure out a way to get her home. It honestly has EVERYTHING you could want in a show; romance, comedy, political drama, political corruption, chaebol (the richest Korean business families) drama, action, etc. it is SO fantastic and really has something for everyone. By the way, if you're ever concerned about pronunciation, I'd love to make you an easy, english-friendly pronunciation guide for any Korean media you watch. While I'm not a native Korean speaker, I'm currently getting my degree in Korean Studies and have 4+ years of Korean language under my belt, and as a fellow native eng speaker, it might be easier for me to make simplified pronunciations for you :)
