Like you said, Zhaan's condition seems to be a reaction to hunger (she did mention something about luring predators and killing them for their meat, so that seems to be some evolutionary thing :) )

As Chiana episodes go, I much prefer this one to "Taking the Stone." Not only does it give us more of her backstory and insight into her personality, it advances her relationship with D'Argo. Then there's the horror show that is a hungry Delvian, which combined two of my nightmare scenarios: an incurable craving for meat and inescapable allergy triggers. Personally, I quite liked the design of the keedva, but your mileage obviously varied. C'est la vie!

Not a lot of space shit in this episode, but a nice helping of weird alien shit! I assume the way it works for Zahn is that normally she doesn't need to eat meat, but once she passes a certain hunger level he body starts consuming stores of other minerals or nutrients that can only be restored through carnivorous consumption, probably as part of the process of generating the spores. The monster design isn't stellar, but the lead baddie alien is nicely gross with that... gap in his head. The splattering demise is fitting, but I can't help but notice the way the prosthetics and makeup fall away to reveal what appears to be a human hand, like that was just how they were removing the actor's alien costume at the end of the day.

I think a moment has to be taken to state how fucking amazing you look in this vid, I tip my cap to you madam, stunning. I was amazed they could get away with that level of flesh melting in a sci-fi show that would release before 9 Really enjoyable episode!
