IN THIS MOVIE

Based on the popular comic strip, this live-action comedy follows the exploits of Garfield (Bill Murray), the large, lazy and wisecracking cat owned by hapless Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer). Jon's other housemate, Odie, is a dim but sweet dog who frequently annoys Garfield. When the conniving orange feline gets fed up with Odie, he devises a way to get rid of the pooch. However, after Garfield has a change of heart about Odie, he must find a way to get his fellow pet back.

David Patterson

On May 15th 1980 Garfield made his screen debut in 'The Fantastic Funnies', a documentary about comic strips and their creators. On October 25, 1982 He was given his own animated special 'Here Comes Garfield'. In this and further specials, as well as the 'Garfield and Friends' series, he was voiced by Lorenzo Music. Famous for his unseen role as Carlton the doorman on the sitcom 'Rhoda', Music's deadpan delivery was perfect for Garfield's lazy, "I hate Mondays" attitude. In 1986, Music was cast in the animated series 'The Real Ghostbusters' as Dr. Peter Venkman, so it was only fitting that Bill Murray take the Big Screen reins of the fussy feline. Lorenzo Music died in 2001
