Fursuit Cleaning! (Patreon)

Hey!! Here with some tips for y’all since people always ask how I get my suits looking so soft! 💞
So first off, I included photos of what I personally use, however they’re optional and only if you wanna go full cleaning mode! ✨
My first tip, is BRUSH. Follow the direction of the fur with your slicker brush to get it all ready for cleaning! Brushing BEFORE cleaning is really important and can help a ton!
People say slicker brushes can damage things, but if you’re cautious and gentle with it I’ve never had any issues! Just don’t press down super hard!
Second, I HIGHLY recommend Tide Antibacterial Fabric Cleaner! I’ve used all sorts of different cleaning agents and this one has yielded the best results for my suits!
Funny, weird tip… You can pour it into a Bissel Green Machine and dilute with water, then use on your suit! That’s what I do!
If you don’t have a bissel, I 100% recommend one! If you can’t afford it, a rigid washcloth can also work if you really scrub (in the fur direction only)!
RINSE THOROUGHLY! Do not let ANY of that cleaner remain on your suit! In the long run, it won’t really damage it if you do, however your suit may be a tiny bit crispy if you don’t get that soap stuff out!
For cleaning the inside of your head, I recommend isopropyl alcohol based spray along with the same treatment as outside of the head! Do not use too much, and make sure it’s a kind you can inhale safely! Tons are on Amazon!
After all that crazy stuff, your suit head should be wet.
Brush gently while wet until the fur looks how you want it! Usually it should look really crisp!
For drying, usually a wig stand can work for your head to rest on! If you don’t have that, set openly, aka a place where it can sit but isn’t smothered! To get best results, put your mask in a place that gets regular airflow (not outside) such as your living room or bedroom!
Remember, do NOT dry your suit outside! It can and will pick up allergens, get smelly, get sticky, etc.
After your suit is dry, it’s safe to wear again! 🩷
This is what personally works for ME, but results may vary! Just giving some help to those who need it!
Hope this tutorial is helpful! 💞
