You have to wonder if some of the exposition re Bojack's legal woes is the result of the creators having to wrap things up sooner than they wanted.

Maybe you guys realize and didn’t talk about it, but you’ll notice that Sharona was missing from the AA meeting-him throwing her under the bus or maligning her or whatever you would call it during the interview obviously did not sit well with them, it wasn’t just because of the general revelations that the AA meeting was a “tough crowd,” he betrayed a fellow member of that group

There was a comment in the subreddit about the legality of bojack's actions (i'll just copypaste here): In the United States, you don't have a duty to rescue. If Bojack walked up to Sarah Lynn in the planetarium, saw her near-death body, and walked out again without doing anything, he would have committed no crime. He simply left; he had no legal obligation to do anything for Sarah Lynn (of course, moral obligations are different). Waiting 17 minutes to call someone wasn't criminal because he never had a legal obligation to call anyone at all. /End copypaste/ Now i'm not a lawyer myself so not a 100% sure but as fucked up as it is it seems like there would be no criminal case here. Of course his actions were borderline sociopathic even if he didn't know she was still alive.
