Love the reaction to Darth myne as us fans says. The subtitles kinda mess up the ranks. Everyone in the church is a priest except Mr white robes, who is the high bishop. Blue haired is the priest in charge of the operation as he says this episode.

Hercule Pyro

Eyy they got it... they called him a bishop! Cause thats what he is, silly CR subs....

So we've gotten to the end of the first season. There is a *boatload* more stuff to come. This first season covered the first three volumes of the light novel. *Currently* the 4th season of the anime is "in production" it starts with volume #8 of the light novel series. There are in total, *33* volumes to the main series of the light novel. According to the author, the series is finished, but.... she's also said that she may write some more books in the same universe. Here's the thing, the tension and the intrigue only increases as Myne gets older. Tried to get you an idea of the scope of the series without getting all spoilery. Hope I succeeded.

Whoo! Finally finished season 1 of a series I've been praying they'd watch... and this scene is chilling in all the right ways :D So happy.

Hoping they react to the side stories.

I really underestimated how hard it would be to rewatch the show after finishing the light novel... not because it's boring (I love the anime even more now), but just knowing how much MORE is there to adapt, that everything that comes just keeps getting better, and realising how long we will have to wait to have it all adapted (and so that others will be able to enjoy it) is soul crushing. I want season 4 so badly.

I've been hoping they'd watch this show for a while, so it's great we made it here! This is just a feel-good show with some organic world building, fantasy, invention, and socioeconomics. It's like Dr. Stone + Spice and Wolf + . Here's hoping we get to Overlord, my next biggest desire, at some point to scratch that GM/DM isekai itch.

Watching this anime for the first time with y'all (though I did read some of the manga a while back) and it is so fun :) this is also the first series of yours I am catching live! so exciting! Thanks for sharing your reactions with us!

on the other hand, it means that we get to enjoy new iterations of the story for a long time to come.

food for thoughts: Did the Head Priest not stop her with magic because he could not or because he choose not to?

Irimu

Nah the crushing is just mana pressure. It's not magic of any kind. It's just raw mana being released. Aynone with mana does that when they're too stressed.

Irimu

They're supposed to be called the high priest and high bishop. The white robes are the high bishops robes. It's also a lot easier than head priest and high priest to remember.

Irimu

The high priest could very much have stopped Myne. He could have just chopped her head off.

Jannika

Didn't they mean that the technique Myne used was called crushing, not losing control itself?

Talyn Silverwood

It’s not specified in the show, but she did accidentally use a very light version of the crushing against others prior to the high priest incident.

The Japanese terms used are shindenshou and shinkanshou, which are pretty similar and probably hard to translate. From my very limited understanding, shinden means temple, shrine or sacred site, and by derivation shindenshou would be the leader of the temple. Meanwhile, shinkan is an obsolete term for a government official serving at a shrine, therefore a shinkanshou could be the leader of the priests. To me, a bishop is just a priest with authority over priests of multiple temples, which neither of these characters seem to be, and neither "high" nor "head" convey a specific role. So "high priest" and "head priest" are about as meaningless to me as "leader of the temple" and "leader of the priests". But it is kinda annoying how different translations don't agree, I'll give you that.

For the curious, the French translation of the novels published by LaNovel uses "grand-prêtre" (great priest) for the young priest in blue, and "père supérieur" (superior father) for the old priest in white.I can't say the titles don't fit, but it was confusing at first because "grand" could also be translated as high, and "supérieur" could also be translated as manager, so I made the wrong translation from French-to-English in my head since I'd seen the anime with English subs first.
