DapperDarius

been refreshing this shit all morning

Zii

I've been waiting for this moment for 6 months! I'm honestly shaking.

Jacky Lin

Neon is a specialist isnt she? all it takes to counter her is to poke her with a stick

Princess Paladin

I love how when Uvogin clenches his jaw or his muscles it sounds like steel cable tightening. Also: This marks the second time that Broskander has been killed by some blonde punk that uses chains.

SuperTallBird

3:43 ARE YOU READY KIDS!!!

Princess Paladin

Neon is a Specialist. She does not have control over all types of Nen. Derive from that what you will~

Princess Paladin

And yeah, I'm glad Caleb caught onto that. Hisoka is NOT an actual member of the Phantom Troupe. He's an infiltrator who wants to destroy them so he can fight the boss. So that is definitely a threat they are hinting at, and have been since all the way back at the end of the episode where Kurapika caught Uvogin the first time.

Fawzi Alomari

I've waited 23 weeks for This!!

Drust66

The question I would personally ask after seeing this fight and seeing Kurapika bit too op is how long he can actually have his Kurta eyes activated and be a specialist in a fight? Is there a time limit or does he like get too exhausted after a bit of time? I hate spiders too btw but poor Caleb man :P

Zacke

As someone who have watched this show way to much and read the manga I so want to answer that but I don't want to spoil for them or anyone else here.. :D

People be spoilery up in these here comments.

Princess Paladin

You can wait, and you're going to have to wait, and THEY'RE going to have to wait, because they're nowhere NEAR those episodes yet, so there's no reason to even mention them. Trying to build hype for episodes they are going to see eventually. It's creating expectations. Please avoid doing that!

Erik Ekelund

Love the discussions :) Regarding Kurapika's black contacts during this episode, I'm pretty sure he did take them off. In the manga it also looks like he takes them off: http://www4.mangafreak.net/Read1_Hunter_X_Hunter_83_3

Genbor

Hisoka is not a member of the Phantom Troupe. Caleb is right.

Cody Enos

100 more episodes to go! Whoooo!

Drust66

Ty for the answer, I watched the full anime btw, but still wasnt sure about this, maybe just missed some details. Anyway, I dont normally read mangas tbh but for HxH I should dig in it hard since awesomeness and the wait time is too long :D

Princess Paladin

The chains are made of Nen. Nen can physically damage things. That's why people with no Nen protection get ultra-screwed by Nen. The entire reason Gon and Killua couldn't approach Hisoka until they received training. Someone with no Nen can just be straight-up killed by someone with Nen. No defenses at all. Emitters project their Nen. They EMIT them. All types of Nen users can potentially put Nen aura into objects. :o

Nadeem Shaikh

remember that special genes and 'special environments' tend to produce specialists

Matheus Henrique Silva Rosa

kurapika specialist tecnique make him able to master all nen categories, but he just uses enhancer 'cause enhancer is cool

Hyperion

If Uvogin was a level 15 Enhancer and Kurapika was a level 10 Conjurer, then when Kurapika goes Emperor Time he gets his max potential out of the other categories and not max "stats". So in Emperor time Kurapika will have level 10 in every category. They wont be stronger then kurapikas conjuration level (at that time).

Clare

One thing I liked about this episode is how Uvo died, he'd rather die that betray the spiders and even in his last moments his showing the strong bonds the troupe have with each other.

Irenesharda

Everyone who uses Nen can use techniques in all the categories other than Specialist. What makes Kurapika's power unique is that in Emperor Time (also known as Absolute Mastery), is that when in that power mode, he gains mastery over ALL areas of Nen. If you know a little Japanese, in Japanese they actually say that he can use 100% of the other categories.

Norberto Rodriguez

exactly! the whole Sauske story with the eye powers was kinda ripped off from this Manga/Anime when it was released in 1998 while Naruto was released on 2000

Raymond Wang

That ability is unbelievably unfair. Honestly, that is one of the few things that annoyed me about Kurapika. A ability like that could easily destroy a nen master without too much effort.

Lurkingposter

It's fair because he gimped his abilities by focusing on the phantom troupe. On top of that, if you have prior knowledge of his abilities, they can be countered

The Overlord of Ice

People: Emperor Time is too OP. Me: *Laughs in manga*

Oscar H

Even though Kurapika has full access to the potential of all nen types it doesn't mean he can use them effectively. Based on what they explained about nen so far the healing was probably a manipulator technique. Kurapika was also using enhancing which is the simplest category as well as his native conjuring. Furthermore, he was likely using manipulation to strengthen the chains. He was probably only using three types of nen in that fight. Also, I think Jacob is confused about emitters - if they were what he speculated they were in this video they would be almost the same as manipulators.

Amber Hutchinson

Lol guys characters don't always have to die for the story to be good.

Xavier J Oliver

Any time nen is outside the body its an emitter technique. Netero is an emitter, any time people summon a creature to fight it's an emitter and conjurer technique.

Damiester

Not all of the chains are limited to being used on the Spiders. In fact, only chain jail is limited, which is why it's extremely strong compared to the other abilities. However, he still needs to use Emperor Time for his healing thumb and some other chains to work/function to their full potential. There doesn't seem to be any emitter abilities that Kurapika's been using. It'd be the most difficult to learn with or without Emperor Time considering it's on the opposite of the chart.

Raymond Wang

True but not all of his abilities are only limited to Phantom Troupe members. His Emperor Time ability still allows him complete masterly over all types of Nen. In fact, if Kurapika did not have the Emperor Time ability, Uvo may have won. He was only able to move that fast due to his Enhancer abilities. Uvo even landed a punch on Kurapika twice. Those hits would have severely damaged Kurapika even more if not for his healing ability.

Irenesharda

Yeah, I think a few people forget this. Only Chain Jail is limited to the Phantom Troupe. And it is the most powerful of his 5 chains. He's used the other chains on people other than the spiders. He used the Healing chain on himself, and he used the divination chain all the time. He could use the Judgement chain on others if he so wished as well.

Irenesharda

I have nothing wrong with him being so OP, I honestly love OP characters. For me, once you've established the character is OP, the shift for the plot is now how the character changes and acts despite these powers. It's what makes characters like Superman interesting. However, his power is probably why his presence is significantly decreased after this arc.

Irenesharda

Someone did mention that Kurapika was SO confident that he would win, that he actually remembered to bring a shovel to bury Uvo with. ;)

Burni

it is a spoiler as we don't know most of that yet and its going to be explained in future...

Damiester

^Like I said, it's not a spoiler because everything I've mentioned should be noticed by now. The explanations of this have already been spread throughout the earlier episodes. It's not my fault if people didn't notice the cues or missed details. As Jennifer mentioned, we've already SEEN divination chain, healing thumb and judgement chains used on non-spiders (Kurapika himself was a target).

Damiester

One of the best comments on youtube. Forgot which video it was though.

Damiester

Well, I think Kurapika's presence was simply not needed in the next two arcs. We know this because Leorio disappears too lol.

Damiester

Nah, emitter techniques have very little to do with "summoning". That in fact is the benchmark for conjurers. There are lots of examples later on.

Irenesharda

How is that a spoiler? You can easily put it together with the info already given. Do you really need someone to spell it out first? We've seen him use the divination one already more than once in instances that have nothing to do with the Phantom Troupe, he used the healing one on himself, and we know he's not in the phantom troupe. He already stated that he used to restriction on chain jail itself while he was in the car. So, using the powers of deduction, we know that out of 3 fingers, the only one that he HAS to use with the Spiders in the middle finger, we can therefore surmise, that the other 2 don't have the requirement as well as he doesn't need said requirement. The restriction was made in order to make his chains mostly unbreakable. The only finger where that is needed is with Chain Jail. All the others aren't used in a manner in which needs to be broken. And I can figure all this only with the info already given. I have seen this series, but it was quite a while ago and I've actually forgotten whole chunks of the story. :P So, I'm only really putting this together as a newbie would.

Irenesharda

Well, that depends on what you consider OP. If your power can destroy the world and yet you would have to lose a couple of organs in doing so, I would still call that power OP. You can live without a few organs, meanwhile the Earth has been destroyed.

Oscar H

EDIT: Misread Xavier's comment. My point about the spoiler still stands.

Irenesharda

I actually missed the two as they are the most mature in the group. And I think sometimes that maturity would have gotten in the way of Gon and Killua's discovery as they too began to mature and grow up. Many mistakes they made or things they learned could have been told to them by someone like Kurapika, who already thinks on another level. Kurapika is the most mature and leader-like of the group. something that did signal him being a specialist. He was already mature as a kid, but what happened to his clan caused him to grow up really fast. Notice here, that while Gon and Killua did learn Nen, Kurapika, had in the same amount of time, learned Nen, learned how to create his own techniques using it, and learned how to create fighting tactics and strategy while using it as well. As the brothers stated, Kurapika feels as if he already knows what he is meant to do and is just completing the steps to get to his goals. Gon and Killua feels as if they are still learning who they are. Its like having someone in 7th or 8th grade, compared to someone in 12th. While the age difference isn't that great, the maturity levels are quite a ways away from each other.

Ghostnotes

omg im so hyped, the next few episodes are incredible. cant i pay you double or triple and get some more right now??

Irenesharda

One thing also to note is that the things Kurapika was demanding from Uvo, Hisoka already offered to him as part of their partnership. Kurapika could have easily have gotten the info from Hisoka. He honestly didn't need Uvo to tell him other than to perhaps confirm the information. Though if anyone can help with this, I totally forgot, but, how did Hisoka know that Kurapika was part of the Kurta and wanted vengeance on the Phantom Troupe? I don't think Kurapika ever told him, and I don't think he ever mentioned this info while Hisoka was around? Or perhaps I missed it.

Damiester

The thing with Gon though is that he's something completely different. It's already been hinted at in the earlier episodes that he's "similar" to Hisoka and they will continue to expand on that point.

Irenesharda

He did notice that, but he was wrong by saying that Kurapika can't fight Hisoka. Kurapika can fight anyone he wants. He just can't use Chain Jail on anyone other than actual Phantom Troupe members. And I can see Kurapika as being able to think of backup plans on top of backup plans and many other techniques for those outside of the Spiders.

Damiester

Honestly, his dowsing chains buffed with enhancer abilities could just be as deadly during Emperor Time. Considering how he's still relatively young even in the manga, there are endless potential routes he could take.

Tread carefully in this comment section! Also RIP Uvogin :'(

Ryan Pearce

Hisoka has seen Kurapika's crimson eyes, and probably put 2 and 2 together. Also, Hisoka only knows what 7 of the spiders powers, and Kurapika was looking for the rest. He also kept the fact that he knew some of them secret from Uvo, because he can use that to verify that Uvo is telling the truth. Of course, Uvo stayed silent, so, this didn't come up.

Irenesharda

I only remember his eyes going scarlet once or twice during the hunter exams. The only time I really remember is when he was in the prison part of the exam. I don't remember Hisoka being there at the time to see him. Did I miss something?

Elaine Kay

ooo, i like the countdown timer. nice addition guys

Kyle

Netero is actually an enhancer Xavier

Kyle

lmao he's a conjurer, it seems a lot more logical that he just made it on the spot.

kevinup

thats what i suggested and it got shut down real quick.

The Emporer Time ability is discussed in the manga. All power in HxH comes with a cost. And Emperor Time's cost is pretty damn huge.

BennLimos

Kurapika's nen teacher taught him hatsu though. Whereas Wing only taught the duo the basics. There's a reason why there's a huge gap between the progress of the characters and that's the goal they have set for themselves. Gon only needed to find his dad and power wasn't a necessity at first, Killua also didn't have much incentive to grow stronger given he already was super strong in the beginning while Kurapika has all the reasons to become powerful as he stated that he needs a power strong enough to defeat the Troupe.

Rui Tan

I think in the final phase, kurapika did went red eye during gon's fight
