At first I was strictly watching this show one ep at a time along with their reactions but I think I'm gonna have to skip ahead because of this!

cinna

"The show is called 'The Ancient Magus Bride'! So she's gonna be okay!?" Well, you see, the show title doesn't say if she has to be alive or dead, right? It *could* be the Ancient Magus (Corpse) Bride. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

After Riko, Chise... this is a bad week for main characters. On another note, it was not the sorcerer who was talking about his master. It was Alice talking about Renfred.

You're guys' reaction to Elias' transformation was priceless!!! This episode and the next one are two of my favorite episodes (so far), and I am glad you guys enjoyed this one just as much as I did. I loved the point you brought up about Chise leading this episode. I really liked that she was able to fight back and take care of things herself without the help of Elias for once. It's pretty subtle, but I think it shows how much she has grown since the first episode. Also, it's a relatively inconsequential moment in this episode, but I really like the part where Chise asks Alice if she loves Renfred and she replies, without hesitation, "absolutely." I feel like in most anime they would just go with the whole blushing, "baka" response, and I expected it to happen in that moment, but they didn't do that and idk I just really liked that. Anyway, great reaction and discussion as always! :D

I'm pretty sure the sorcerer that attacked Chise was not the one having the internal dialogue about Elias. The Sorcerer's apprentice was the one remembering what her master had told her about Elias at the moment of his "transformation"

Andrew

Great reaction as always! Fyi that was the apprentice, Alice, monologuing when she mentioned her master and not the short scorcerer. Also it was already stated last episode that Elias is a Fairy in a 'shell of flesh' so not human

Just FYI Alice (the female apprentice) was talking about HER master Renfred during the internal monologue. Renfred told Alice all that stuff about Elias.

Sennai woldemariam

I'm fairly confident that the "blurry" memory is because he tampered with their memory as they leave him so when something like this happens, they don't fully have a concrete description. Elias had previously mentioned something with memory manipulation just previously.

Rynegade

Well, a number of people already pointed out the whole 'master' thing... so I'll just speak up about the OVA since I'm not sure if this has been brought up. I highly recommend watching the OVA episodes before episode 13, as there are some little flashbacks (with no dialogue) which you might be confused by. It's also a very good story.

Miracle Holmes

The one having the inner monologue during Elias's transformation was Alice, not the other one attacking him.

Princess Paladin

"We know she's fine." Always with the assumptions! JoJo, Made In Abyss, Hunter x Hunter, and now Ancient Magus Bride! "Oh, they wouldn't kill off the main character! Show is named after him!" "*Jonathan Joestar crying in the afterlife*" I forgive you for having a suitably horrified reaction to Chise getting stabbed, though~ (Also, incase it wasn't clear, I am joking, not seriously criticizing)

Princess Paladin

The people who watched the OVAs first know what's up with the spirits, though they explained it in episode 1 too. They're just drawn to Chise due to her being a Sleigh Beggy, but their attention isn't necessarily beneficial to her. Elias mentioned that and Chise had a reaction to that news because "oh, it makes sense now". The weird spirits have no connection to the chimeras.

Vern

I thought you would realize when a voice changes who is talking. The girl on the ground is internal monologuing. She is talking about her master the guy missing an arm.

Princess Paladin

Yeah. Alice was the one thinking about her master, not the kid. I mentioned it on the Discord.

Btw although the OVAs are stand alone it might be worth watching them in the future. I personally think they'd fit in well after episode 13 but it's also fine to just skip them entirely.

Princess Paladin

Yeah, they don't really include the content from them in the series at all. The SoS Bros seemed to think they would, but... They don't. Nothing story-explaining.

am i the only one that didnt get email notification?

This episode definitely makes me more interested this show! I’ve been watching along with you guys only because I enjoy your discussions, but I was never really truly interested. Now I’m actually anticipating the next episode :D Some VA fun facts: Renfred (Alice’s master): Daichi Ulysse (Black dog): Tsukishima Little bratty dickheaded sorcerer: Hinata (he must be in his rebellious phase xD) Elias: TBA I love Haikyuu, so I just had to check if I was right the moment I heard familiar voices. Looking forward to the next episode!
